Yeah, Dick hasn't been a hostage for a long time now. Even in his later years as Robin, he wasn't.
I can't tell you how refreshing it is to see Dick being treated as the a-list hero he is.

Great job, Charlie. Wasn't Supes in the original, though? Or maybe I'm thinking of another issue??

It'll take more than a "hug" to fix that, Jay. Im! I've loved your Nightwing. More so, at times (And I know this'll be counted as blasphemy, but honesty is the best policy), than Ellen's! You two have this amazing grasp of the character, and I'm happy to have been a part of this tapestry you two talents have woven. Don't let anyone get to you, you're doing brilliant. Can't wait for your return to the book!

Anyways, this is for your issue this month, and frankly, I loved it. It was interesting to hear Dick's story in first person. I wanted to do that, but couldn't switch styles ( so I cheated with Issue #17!) back and forth. Great job!

Haha, it's all good. I just, y'know, couln't NOT comment... haha Chuck! I've loved your Nightwing. Well thanks. More so, at times (And I know this'll be counted as blasphemy, but honesty is the best policy), than Ellen's! Thank you, but no-- there's no comparison. Ellen-- is awesome. You two have this amazing grasp of the character, and I'm happy to have been a part of this tapestry you two talents have woven. Don't let anyone get to you, you're doing brilliant. Can't wait for your return to the book! Thank you!

Excellent issue! Of course comparing Charlie and Batkid's Nightwings would be like comparing apple's and green beans. Both are good and good for you, but are completely different in texture and taste. I love the occasional story that gives Dick the chance to reflect on what he was taught. I also enjoy flashback stories of him and Bruce together, since it's been ages since we've ever really seen the original Dynamic Duo. Excellent job, Charlie. You captured the spirit of Nightwing perfectly and once again reminded us that Dick no longer lives in the shadow of the bat... and your timing on this couldn't have been more perfect. One eency weency tiny little question/complaint. Lately it does seem that nearly every character you write has a real love of swearing... especially the GD word. Or am I imagining this? 5 stars, my friend!

I love the occasional story that gives Dick the chance to reflect on what he was taught. I also enjoy flashback stories of him and Bruce together, since it's been ages since we've ever really seen the original Dynamic Duo. Yeah, well if you want some classic Batman/Robin stories, DC2 Showcase #1 and #2 and many other issues to come have some very Dynamic stories planned, written by, you guessed it, Im and Ellen!! We're very lucky! Excellent job, Charlie. You captured the spirit of Nightwing perfectly and once again reminded us that Dick no longer lives in the shadow of the bat... and your timing on this couldn't have been more perfect. Some could say... I planned it so...? One eency weency tiny little question/complaint. Lately it does seem that nearly every character you write has a real love of swearing... especially the GD word. Or am I imagining this? Hmm. I probably didn't get out of my Doctor Occult/The Question "writing hat" for this (the tones of those books are very... Visceral and noirish? Well, that's what I'm going for). I don't have a Nightwing "hat" so this was a bit of fun to write. I'll reel it back in if I ever write Nightwing again... And from the fun I had writing this issue, I might consider it some time down the line, if Ellen doesn't mind

It's nice to see a one-shot issue, those can be fun, a nice self-contained tale is always good to see. This one was okay. Nothing special, nothing roaring out of the gates, but well-written and it was interesting to see some of Dick's inner thoughts on different elements of his history.
A nice fill-in, well-written, tight, good work, Charlie.
Take care Don
