Remember to keep asking The Question your questions in the other thread, but here we are... Once more, officially... Back! So what are you waiting for? Let 'em fly, share your thoughts...

I would like to thank Susan Hillwig, the writer who I am dedicating this issue to, one of my DC2 heroes who always listened when I needed someone to talk Question to. If you aren't reading Weird Western Quarterly then you have brain problems! Huzzah!

It just needed John Wayne and Dean Martin to complete the cast! (if you watch a lot of westerns you'll get that.) Great job. I liked how at first you kept piling on mystery after mystery, till toward the end all the answers came flying out. I kept expecting the story to take a supernatural turn what with the title and all, but I forgot all about it, 'till the end where you used the title in the story and I went "Ahhah"! scaring all the animals. Plus snippets into Vic's life, before. The trumpet/Fedora scene made me smile. Trumpet $600.00, Blue Felt Fedora $65.00 , having you friend avenge your death years later . . . . Priceless.

Undoubtably my favorite issue of this title so far (What? It's the first issue, you say? You know what I mean! ). I thought the story was not so much a mystery, but rather one of Charlie's more straight-forward efforts (at least it seemed pretty straight-forward to me, and everything flowed naturally from one conclusion to the next)--- and the Western analogy is extremely apt. I was a little puzzled why Artie was murdered (I guess they were trying to run him out of town, right?), but plot-wise this seemed pretty tight. The pacing, atmosphere and characterization was better than it has ever been. Not to mention the syntax! Charlie, you have a way with words, my friend, especially when the story is from Vic's POV. My favorite scene was the last one. After reading this, I really felt sad that we couldn't have Artie as a supporting character in the series. Seems like he would have had a good rapport with Vic. Actually, in keeping with the Western theme, this felt a lot like a Palmiotti and Gray issue of Jonah Hex. Susan is going to love it.

I really enjoyed reading this. The description of Artie playing grabbed my attention right off the bat, and the story and characterization of Vic kept me interested right up until the very end. I haven't had much exposure to the Question outside of 52 and his JLU appearances, but this issue has made me really want to check out the mini-series that preceded it, and I'll be looking forward to the next issue.

Well, I've been asked to comment on this, which I wasn't planning on doing since I kind of work on it as well; however, I do have to say that when I received this from Charlie, I was blown away on how well written it was. It was a tight story from the very beginning, and it made it very easy to edit. Dave hit the nail on the head many times, with his comments. All I can add is that I was very impressed that this was a story about Vic Sage and Vic Sage alone. No guest stars, no special appearances, just one hero and his story... a great story! Bravo to you, Charlie! You came out swinging and took no prisoners. Oh, and the last scene was my favorite as well. I'm a sucker for a bitter-sweet ending, and you delivered one of the best I've read, so far. Congrats my friend!

I can't find the right words to describe my feelings about this story... everything positive is said by now. I just can say that I really liked it and enjoyed the story. That trip to vegas... is he going to meet the New Outsiders someday???

I have said before that I am a sucker for character stories and Vic is truly a character. On the other hand, I am not a fan of first person stories but I was able to get past it mostly.
This was not the story I was expecting so I was pleasantly surprised on how it all went down. Getting inside Vics head again showed that he is a different person then he was at the end of the mini. Hell he is different then anyone else in the DC2 universe and thats all because of you Charlie!
Of all the tales you tell Charlie, the Question always seems to be a personnel one. I can always see your passion when I read this title. I look forward to seeing where Vic turns up next!

Great story. As awesome as the Quarterly is this seemed more focused and straitforward. Very tight delivery and I enjoyed the origin of the fedora bit. Keep it coming Chuck.

Bloody hell, now I'm getting issues dedicated to me? All I do is read the stuff, tell him it's wonderful, and send him on his merry way. But hey, if this makes me his hero, let me go put on my cape. ;D It's true though: Charlie does a grand job on TQ (formerly TQQ), and I say so every issue. This one turned out better than the others, I think, a much tighter focus than the others. His opening description (which he at first sent me all by itself, the tease!) hooks you in quick, and he has a wonderful grasp of dialogue -- the patter is just a marvel to read. Favorite part this story was Vic in the convenience store, just casually gathering these eclectic items like it's totally normal..of course, for him it IS normal. And yes, reading WWQ will solve all your brain problems, plus cure your gout. Says so on the bottle. Pick up a fresh dose on Sept. 27!

I know I hadn't commented earlier, but I was busy. Great start to a new series. Great characterization and mood throughout. Can't wait to see the further adventures.

Good story. Solid and interesting throughout. How many Yanks would actually say "Nonce" though, it's a very English term...
Jokes aside I really enjoyed the issue, and loved the introspective nature of your storytelling/narrative. That's really my favourite kind of work and although I too dislike first person narratives I didn't really notice too much with this. I'll be back next month.

This was a pretty good issue, sorry it took me SOOO long to get to it but I read it and that's really all that matters doesn't it? Overall I thought the story was nice, like david said it wasnt much of a mystery since you let out who was behind the whole thing pretty early on but it didn't stop it from being enjoyable. I liked how you explained the sugar cube quirk(which I remember writing into that powers thing by the way ) and the action scenes were well done as usual. I only had really two minor issues with it and they are the "under the thumb" phrase which got used more than crack in the nineties and the other being the rascist remark at the end which kinda came out of left field to me at least. Other than that though I liked it a lot. good job.

Thank you Ramon, and thanks for reading it! Yeah, I think this issue was a bit shakey on it's feet, but I hope I can assure you it gets better as the series goes on...!
