I don't expect to like this series, because I struggle to get really into the action, but when you do get into it you're plunged into some of the best writing this site has to offer. Seriously cool characterisation, I'm glad BO didn't go the way of her comic book counterpart, and I'm just wanting... To see the next issue.

Wow John! I don't think I can remember the last time I plowed through a story this long so fast! Riveting, suspenceful & just damn good! Everything about this story was perfection... I could actually see this as a movie. Liked the Ostrander nod! And Killer Frost seems to share some similar... uh... traits with the Huntress in the New Outsiders... although I would say that Frost takes it to another level entirely! I do have one suggestion, not a complaint by any stretch of the imagination, just a suggestion: How about a Suicide Squad roll call at the beginning of each issue? List the code name, real name & a brief line about their abilities. If their killed in action in one issue, the following issue could have 'DECEASED' on it, or something, and then the next issue their removed entirely. I only suggest this because, being unfamiliar with the SSquad (I've only read your book), I found it difficult to keep up with who was who in the beginning. Once the story got rolling (page 2) it got a bit easier and (by page 4, I believe) I had it down. It might make it easier on us old folk with bad memories though Two big thumbs up... And...

I really enjoyed this issue. I have to admit that it has taken me a bit to warm up to these characters, but this issue truly had me wanting more. Very nice job.
I do have to agree with LL. I would love some kind of run down on who's who, at the beginning. I find myself having to go back and figure out some of them. But this was a fun read!

Thanks Chuck for the high praise! My goal all along is to have the focus be on the characters and the action to spring from that.
When I began to decide what parts each character was going to play in the overall 'big picture' of this title I quickly saw Black Orchid having a large part to play. I can't wait to tell her tale that begins in a 3 part back-up feature that begins in issue 4. It will be my first chance to play with some of the bigger guns in the DC2U as Susan's journey to discover her origins begins in Metropolis!
WOW! If this was a movie I would have to quote you on the DVD cover! Thank you for the kind words!
Wouldn't that be something if they ever met and faced off? I wonder what it would take to get the Squad in Las Vegas? I wonder if the ground work has already been laid for that to happen?
That is an incredible idea and I will incorporate that starting in issue 3 next month!
A best issue nod among all the great stuff that came out this week? You bring a smile to this talentless hacks face!
I figured out pretty early on that this title was going to be a hard sell for most. If this was a real DC title I am sure TPTB would be pushing for guest stars galore to boost sales. I just want to tell a good story! I like the challenge of taking lesser known or unpopular characters and make great story's for them. I love these characters so i find it easy to care about them. I recognize that most do not feel that way so I hope to win them over and show everyone how great they can be. Like I said this will always be a character driven title. There is a big picture and a lot of what plays out for a long time has been laid out in this first arc. I am glad you are warming up to these characters just don't get too attached to them. This is the 'Suicide Squad' after all and not everyone will survive. Heck some are dead and don't even know it yet! ;D

Best issue so far. The highlight for me was Angle Man's battle with Jaculi (also liked the Killer Frost segment). Nice to see Black Orchid, although her invulnerability doesn't seem as hot as it used to be and I'm kind of sad that she isn't as mysterious as she originally was in the comics (then again that would probably make her fairly unwriteable). Also liked the various plots and double plots that seem to be going on.
On the negative side, the insistence on telling us where all the villains' names were derived from during the briefing seemed more to show off the creative research involved than to provide any useful information for the Squad.
I'm yet another reader who'd like a roll call of some kind at the beginning (sorry if my words are redundant and that has already been implemented in the next issue which I've not got round to reading yet).
Great cover.
