This was an interesting outing for Suicide Squad. The characters are all given definitive agendas in their very brief scenes flying to Africa, but aside from that however, the issue was kind of weak. The plot was predictable, I felt, and that's sad. There might be a twist coming up to liven things a bit, but the "true manipulator" was sadly obvious from the outset, and I was disappointed to be proven correct in the last scene.
The writing was stiff and almost overwrought in some places. Having the country's growth and current situation hammered home to me on two different occasions wasn't needed. The way the characters talked and thought was very stiff and unnatural in several places, which undercut their personalities a bit.
There were a number of small scenes I liked: Terra playing with the cigarettes was interesting; Elecrocutioner and his talk of guilty and innocent, that was all pretty good; Catman's discomfort at being forced into a natural extension of his hunter's role as investigator was very intriguing, and I hope to see more of that. I'd love to see him finding himself becoming ore and more the detective, and his having to deal with that; and the inner monologue for Knockout and thinking of her pet offers some interesting glimpses of the future.
There was a solid effort in this entry, that's for sure, weakened by stiff writing and a (so far) predictable plot. Still, I'll be back to see the next part, learn who else is involved in the story. Keep up the effort!
Take care Don

This seemed to be a transition issue, and a well done one, although I too, have to admit that the dialogue was a bit stiff in a few places, however, other places it seemed to work. I'm really enjoying your take on Catman (a personal favorite of mine). All together, I'd give this four stars. I will be back to see how this one is wrapped up. Oh, and Terra smoking is kind of cool. I like non-PC characters.

I'll agree it was stiff in places... and the absence of Mitch Shelly was kind of curious, but the story flowed nicely and it pointed itself in a direction so I enjoyed it. I'd like to see some more distinction in some of the characters... some of the dialogue feels like it could have come from a few different Squad members.
I think the use of Terra is very interesting. I like the character and she some nice storytelling potential in her. I'm also a HUGE fan of Resserection Man and look forward to his involvement in future stories.

Ressurection Man was present, he just didn't have much to say. The thing with him, June and Enchantress is far from over.
As for Terra....oh yes, I have plans.

Another strong issue. A liitle weak with the crime scene stuff, but overall very well written.
Manhunter and Catman's back and forth got me interested in Catman's ability and how he interacts with other members of the squad...one-on-one.
I continue to enjoy Terra's attitude in this series.
4 out of 5 stars from The 'Chief.
