Letters to Invincible Iron Man #1

Well, I'm going to be perfectly honest, I thought this was average. Overall, I thought, not too much happened, but that was not my biggest concern, I feel that what did happen, could have been explained and told in a better way. I found my self confused several times throughout the story, but overall, as far as the actually plot goes, I liked it.

I put quite a lot into this so I wouldn't have to steep every single issue following this with exposition. Not much was supposed to happen, but what happened will play out for the first arc of the book.

A criticism I get a lot is the confusing nature of my prose. And I apoligize. I'll rewrite everything else to conform to your tastes when I have some spare time

To be honest though, this was written to reflect Tony's slightly unhinged nature at the moment. Next issue, hopefully, as the pace increases some what, you'll enjoy what I'm doing. I have a plan with both Hulk and Iron Man, and I'm trying to change my writing style to reflect the book. Iron Man is heavy science, technical and winding, whilst Hulk, when you see it, is more a reflection of an emotional struggle, a more personal story. With big green F### off monsters.

My favorite part of the whole thing was definitely how you portrayed Stark while working on the armor, how he completely forgets about everything but his work. The little details you put in, such as the way he shaved, all of that, was superb!

I did a whole lot of research into nanotechnology and a lot of other things to ensure that I wasn't just bull-shitting this. This is probably one of my most well-researched pieces to date, and I think that #2 will be less dense, but of course, still technical in nature.

I think the biggest problem with this issue, overall, was that it assumed that the reader was an Iron Man fan. Now, you can do that with characters like Spidey and the likes, but with less known characters, it helps if you explain things further than you would normally. For me, personally, I like Iron Man, but all I really know about him in terms of lore, is him, and War Machine , I am not aware of most of his villains and supporting cast. Maybe it is just me who needs to get educated, who knows

I have never collected Iron Man. I've read issues, I'll read his ongoing in my LCS, but I don't buy his book. I loved Ultimates and his characterisation there, but I knew that wouldn't work over here, so Tony is more an amalgam of what I thought he should be. Mad scientist, charmer... Plus some other things you'll see in #2.

There are moments I slipped in mentions of certain characters that are Easter Eggs for some readers (there's a major one next issue) and hints for others. "Sandhurst" is a character you'll be seeing more of. And some of you have already mentioned who he is below.

And introductions will be made, and more history lessons told, as the book progresses. We learn about Tony and his past in #2 and #3, and then his past hits him like a green fist to the face in ]#4. If all goes to plan, that is.

And War Machine...?! Maybe that "hallucination" early on in the issue will have something to do with War Machine down the line.

Maybe.

Overall, however, an enjoyable read, I just felt it didn't quite live up to the standard that the rest of the issues we have up so far set. However, I am joyfully expecting issue #2!
