This was fantastic, and I was considering using my Moderator powers to force you to send me the next parts but i decided not to (yet:P)... I really want this to go out DAILY, because... I want more. I love it. Best Batman story on the site, up there with Idles Tec.

I love it. Best Batman story on the site, up there with Idles Tec. Glad you're enjoying! You can always try using your pleading voice and puppydog eyes to get them from Idle... Also, remember... this is 8 chapters. If it went out daily, we'd be done in slightly over a week. Instead we're drawing it out to torture... um... get you to savor (yeah, that's it! ) each installment! And after the next one, the chapters are going to get longer...

I don't know what to say that I haven't already said. This story keeps getting better and better and it's a shame you're not on the DC staff! You're one of the few writers I know I would follow just because of the name and talent. As always, looking forward to the next issue.

You need to write all our monthly ongoings. Not one... All. Your style is fantastic, you know how to drag a reader along with you as you unravel a tale that leaves you begging for more. (I did PM Idle;))

I'm a Bat-phile. The stories work because I feel I know the characters well enough to write them. But that's only true for the Bat-family right now. And, to be perfectly honest... I don't have the time to write quite that much... but thanks!

By then, I'll probably have ideas. In all seriousness, I do some of my best material when I can tie it in to a continuity. DC2 continuity is just getting started now, and I'm feeling my way around it. In 3 years, though... anything's possible!

Oh, and there WILL be continuity by then... Well... in Flash, Green Lantern and Batman for sure (to my knowledge)... Aquaman too... I dunno about Superman... Wonder Woman... Sure... Uh... Hawkman, hell yeah... I love continuity too... Especially the nostalgic golden age books... Starman, JSA... and Hourman to a lesser extent...

I have to say that the last line of this issue made the hair on my arm stand-up and brought a smile to my face...
This is just exceptional work, Ellen. You've translated your grasp of these characters and mythos into an engrossing story about the lives of people we tend to forget (thanks to your craft) are imaginary. This issue is just so packed with drama and realism (and superlative research) that it reads like an edge-of-your-seat thriller, despite the complete lack of superhero derring-do. Your pacing is masterful, and your dialouge effortless.
I wish I could wave this in Dan Didio's face and say: "See? This is how this should be! This is how these characters should be written! Give this woman a job!"
I am privileged to be your editor, and thank you for not only elevating our art-form, but making it look easy!
If that was too effusive, well all I can say is you brought it on yourself!
;D

I liked the bit between Gordon and Bruce... And Bruce being seemingly in sound mind? Can't wait to see how this all plays out.

I liked the bit between Gordon and Bruce... And Bruce being seemingly in sound mind? Can't wait to see how this all plays out. The Gordon/Bruce scene is something that I call a "moment in search of a story". I.E. it's something that I'd wanted to show for a very long time, but was waiting for the appropriate piece of writing. Bruce is not in a particularly good frame of mind, right now. In the course of a single evening, he's lost his surrogate father, his adopted son, his freedom, his physical mobility, and his secret identity. Is he stark raving mad? No. But he's not exactly coping well at the moment. Keep reading! See ya in 14!

DARN IT! I promised myself I wasn't going to cry! I can't wait to see what coming next! I'm loving this. It's nice to see characters actually advance, instead of being the same ol same ol. DC could take a lesson, drive the characters not the fights.

The 2 best touches in the story: the Batgirl toy (I got a toy Bat-Mite for my desk to emulate Babs') and the glasses (as soon as Gordon took them off, I knew what he was doing). And I'm with Goldk, I almost cried too! Other good stuff: learning about the JLA's UN sanction (honestly had no clue about that!) and the line, "My name is Gordon, NOT Gandalf!" Just finished reading the real latest issue of 'Tec (which sucked big time ) and I sure as hell with THAT was fanfic and YOUR story was the official stuff!

Just finished reading the real latest issue of 'Tec (which sucked big time ) and I sure as hell with THAT was fanfic and YOUR story was the official stuff! The toy is actually canon. If you have the Officer Down TPB, check out the Oracle scenes when they find the gun that shot Gordon. Glad the Bruce-Gordon scene caught your attention. Like I said above, that image predates this story. Thank Charlene Edwards for the UN sanction bit. This fic wouldn't have held together without her expert assistance. What can I say? I was writing the scene and thinking about another old man who insisted on bringing his cane where people didn't want it brought. Gotta admit, that Tec arc wasn't one of my favorites either... Thanks for the kudos! Next chapter posts in 2 weeks!

Guess I should have been clearer, DB: I knew that Babs used to have a Batgirl toy on her desk, and that's why I bought the Bat-Mite for mine years ago, to copy that (kinda dumb, but so am I ). I will say that I hadn't noticed it went missing after War Games, though. Oh, and David says I have to talk you into being the regular writer for 'Tec, so DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!! ;D

Gahh! I'm still trying to write NW! And a huge plot bunny just galloped into my apartment and started tapdancing on my head and it's a sequel for Locked. And I'm trying to shelve it until I've got NW submitted to the site. (And until fanfic_med can help me with certain vital info...)

And that's why Ramon is as he is. A Rabid Plot Rabbit bit him on the arse... Sure his dialogue is crisp and his stories funny... BUT AT WHAT COST?
