I honestly don't know what to say that hasn't been said about this story. I wish the thing was a novel because I would probably read the whole thing in one sitting. It's still better then most everything I read on a weekly basis in any comic on the stand. Just stop leaving it on enough of a cliff-hanger that I scream out loud for more. I'm waking my kids up.

If it were a novel it would be a short one. I think it's about 120 pages, all told. Glad you're enjoying!

you sure know how to write a cliff hanger! Can't wait to see whose help Dick has enlisted!

One of the best Fan fiction I read for a long time.
And the art cover, I honestly prefer better than 90% of the Batman covers I find on the comic book shelves these days. Brillian job Ramon.

I won't argue with that statement.
What can I say? I do, do a "brillan" job.

Heh.
Well it is either that or "Brilliant jo Ramon"!
But really, awesome cover art.

Loved Dick playing coy with Akins (What? Me in a Batsuit? Perish the thought!) ;D And the editorial cartoon...heck, that's good enough to be a cover in itself, all done up in Ramon's 'toon style like his Xmas banner entry!
Hmm, who will our ersatz Bats be? I'm thinking either Supes or Wally. Guess I'll find out in 2 weeks!

Glad the editorial cartoon caught your eye. Sometimes, describing a picture in your head in detail can be tricky.
As for who's going to be in the suit... um... neither of your picks. But Dick isn't completely aware of who he's getting either. (Though knowing who he called... maybe he should be...) ;D

I love a good cliffhanger--- and this story leaves the reader wanting more and more each week!
I continue to be impressed by the integrity of Ellen's medical and legal knowledge--- this writer does her homework! The scene with the cops and Dick at the beginning was very well done.
That cartoon was clever as all hell--- I could visualize it perfectly!
The dialogue between Dick and Babs is spot on, making me--- once again!--- wish the DC editors would please hire our Ms. Fleischer for a Bat book!
Despite all the tragedy and darkness here, I love how Dick never seems to lose his Boy Wonderment.
The only "complaint" I have with this series so far, is I feel a little out of the loop, not being a regular reader of the Bat-titles, and some characters and situations go over my head (though the writer goes out of her way to make this story accessible)--- I guess I wouldn't have this problem if the DCU Bat-titles were written as engagingly as this!

Thanks!
OK, to come clean...
1) I have NO medical or legal knowledge... but between a fellow fanficcer who's a practicing attorney, another one who knows firearms, and Google, I can fake it with the best of them. (There are a few links I've posted in the writer's section. While I've used them before, I didn't for this chapter. Charlene Edwards gets most of the credit!)
2) I'm glad the characters are ringing true. I find it surprisingly easy to get into Dick's head. From his inception until very recently, Dick has been a cockeyed optimist. One of his most salient features has been his resilience. The guy has his ups and downs, but he's also got a very good bungee cord. He just has to remember to use it.
3) The editorial cartoon was one of those random images that popped into my head. Glad it worked.
4) Now you understand why I was so nervous about taking on a regular title on the ground floor! I'm a continuity-hound. I started out with missing scenes, and spinoffs from stories already told in the DCU. If I understand what the DC Allstar line was supposed to be... I don't DO iconic. What I write is rooted in recent, or distant events. And yes, I do refer back to it as much as possible. Blame it on my English Lit classes. The first thing you learn is that there is no wrong way to interpret a text... or a character... as long as you can provide examples of past behaviour/support to bolster your views. (And with this sort of storyline... I need every shred of support I can find!)

I don't care what you say. I think that whatever kind of story you tell in the DC2 will be on par with this fantastic piece of writing, and probably better, if that's even possible. You're a continuity hound? What better than someone who loves continuity to lay the foundation of a new legend, the legend of a character they love so much?

Think of me as someone who prefers a solid floor under me. Instead, I'm balancing on rafters, empty air below and trying to lay down planks without falling.
...But I appreciate the vote of confidence!

Careful... keep this up and I'll get a swelled head... which will give me more storage space for my ideas. The more room I have up there to contain them, the less come spilling out.

Shoot. You really suck! You're head should be small enough to fit your ideas and not allow to escape...
