A great continuation of the last issue, and more and more layers are being added to this epic serial! I don't like Shayera, I suspect her of treachery, and I'm waiting for Kanjar to betray everyone, but I'm not sure yet.
And... J'onn?

Another fantastic issue, Brian!
I was blown away from the start by that cover from the super-talented Adam Tupper, but its hardcore, bada$$esness set a pretty high expectation about what to expect within--- and this issue delivered.
J'onn J'onzz shows us here exactly why he is one of the greatest heroes of all time, going toe-to-toe with Despero. And Despero! This is the greatest physical threat the League has faced since Darkseid, and it feels like it! This guy is cutting a swath through the universe, and J'onn throws himself in his way...!
Of course, that didn't work out too well for the Hawkknights of Thanagar!
But the real genius in this issue are the many "little" moments: the description of Thanagarian headdresses, Hal hiting-on Alanna, Shayera's dismissal of Wonder Woman, but Mrs. Robinson-esque flirting with Superman (and just what accomodation did they come to?) and just about everything out of the Atoms mouth ("Fascinating..." YES!).
This ended way too quickly--- next issue is going to be a doozy!
And I want to set the record straight: while I have a "plotting" credit on this issue, this is 99.99% Brian Burchette--- he took a vague idea of mine, and is running with it all the way down to the endzone! The credit is all to him.

Yeah I don't trust the Thanagarian "nobility" myself, either one of them.
J'onn.....we'll see next issue. GL and Supes better amp it up, for sure.

Good stuff. I'm a bit worried about J'onn, but i'm sure it'll all work out. Keep it up!

HoM: Thanks for the input, but you don't like Shayera? Geez, I've had a blast writing her. She's just an average ordinary mother...
Idle: Thank you kindly sir. Adam's cover actually helped inspire me to write those battle scene's.
Yeah, sorry about the Hawkknights. Despero got really carried away there. I can promise you that the extermination of Thanagar's elite fighting force will be felt for some time to come.
Another comment about Shayera... actually I'm really getting into that character. Because, well, she's just an average ordinary mother... Although now I have an image of Superman standing by the door in a total Dustin Hoffman voice, "Ms. Shayera, I think you're trying to seduce me." ;D
I actually enjoyed writing the bit about Hal, and the whole Atom thing was actually inspired by Mark... and Roy in a way...
Next issue is the finale and I hope to have some shockers. As always thanks for taking the time to read and respond.
Arcalian: Again with Shayera! but she's just an average ordinary... well you know the drill. Thanks for reading though. And yes, next issue. Supes and GL both turn up the heat.
UDC: Worried about J'onn? You should be. I've already killed over in the New Outsiders, and now that I've got a taste of it... mwahahahahaha. Seriously, though. Thanks for reading and responding. It means a lot.

First off, I have to say that this was Adams best cover yet! Despero looks positively menacing! Great job! This issue continues to grow into a classic JLA tale. Hal hitting on Adam Stranges woman was funny. He is such a pimp even in a galaxy far, far away! Shayera's comment to Wonder Woman was also very funny. Despero was even funny in an evil kind of way. But the reason the humor works is because it isn't forced and every character is shown...well...in character! The battle scenes with MM and Despero kicked ass! The ending though? Whats the plan they came up with? What will it take to finally stop the threat of Despero? Whats the final fate of J'onn? I have to know damn it! Easily your best issue yet Brian! 5 stars from beginning to end!

Thanks John!
Believe me when I tell you that the next cover is just as awesome, if not more. As for how this all ends. Well, I can't tell you that, but I can tell you that the events in the final issue of this arc will continue into another book, with another writer... I think...
Thanks for reading and thanks for the feedback. I'm actually going to miss writing Shayera when this is over.

This was the first issue I read after finishing up the IXE Crisis - which was amazing, by the way - and it was a great choice. This is a late review, and in the time between reading and posting, I've had a chance to read up on New Outsiders. Brian (if I can call you that ), you obviously have a great versatility as a writer. It astounds me how you can write two completely different teams so well! Although I'm a huge fan of the JL, Adam Strange has never really appealed to me, but from this issue and the last, he and his supporting characters really stood out to me, and roused my interest. Amidst the gripping action (J'onn versus Despero - I loved seeing him go all out to stop the villain) and drama, you manage to sprinkle some humour in as well, leading to some great sequences (Hal hitting on Alanna). Five stars!

thank you sir, and yes, you may call me Brian. Just don't call me what Ramon and Charlie usually call me... it hurts my feelings. ;D

Very good issue. Was a fun and light read. Still getting used to the use of Hawkgirl but I liked the way she was handled.
