Don, you never cease to amaze me ;D every single character shines with their own personality, and every single one is consistant and fun. I love Barry, and Ralph is adorable. and Diana looking at poetry was such a nice little detail. As for the rest, you just kept dragging us along for the ride, starting slow and working up to a high-energy break. Can't wait for the next issue to find out what's going on XD

I thought I had commented on this! That's what you get for reading it in a panic in the morning.
I loved it. The League's decision to split up made sense in a way that it never normally does in the "real" book, and Batman's interaction with the Dibney's made me happy.
Mon-El was an interesting character to debut, and I can't wait to see where the book goes next.

I was blown away by this. So many mysteries and so many different stories going on, that I'm more than impressed. Some of the smaller character moments were awesome, but I have to admit that my eyebrow raised when Diana made the comment about "her Kal-El". Hmmm...
Mon-El showing up was fascinating, to say the least. Why is he there? What is he trying to do?
And the ending was perfect. Hawkman and Martian Manhunter (who I'm glad to see is around since he is my favorite) stranded as the ships come in! If the rest of the issue wasn't so damn good, the ending alone would bring me back!
Also want to say kudo's to Roy for an absolute rocking cover. Harkens back to the covers of the 70's. I love word balloons on the covers anyway, so this was a real treat!
5 stars!

Wow, Great job Don, all the characters are perfectly voiced. I can hear them in my head as I read it. (What? Shhhh not now Diana.) any way. I love the way you tell a story, setting us up with the hook without having to drag it out for several issues. The pacing is perfect. Thanks for the compliments on the cover guys, I like word balloons too. Working with Don is great, he knows enough of what he wants to give me a clear idea and yet is lenient enough enough to let me have some artistic license. I can't wait to see what happens next and what I might get to draw!!!

Thanks for the great words, and I hope we can keep you all enthralled as we continue with this mighty story and race toward the one-year anniversary for Justice League. I'm aiming for big, so hang on to the ride. "My Kal-El". That line was inspired by the chess match scene in Wonder Woman Annual just recently out. It occurred to me reading the scene that nearly everyone sees the big blue boy scout as Clark or Superman. Diana is one of the very few people to call him Kal, and so I decided to play with that notion a bit here. So yeah, her Kal-El. Everyone else can have Clark or Superman, she's happy with her alien friend. Something I may play with a bit more from time to time in JL (and WW and/or Superman should I ever write those titles). The secret of Mon-El will be a biggie when it's revealed, but I will tease you all with this: this IS Mon-El's origin tale, this IS the Mon-El that will someday become a member of the Legion (if he survives the big angry man with the axe, that is ). What is he up to? Why is he doing it? Who is he working with/for? Where is the lead weakness? And why is he speaking like a bad chop-socky movie? Well...find out in issues to come. And I have to give a big applause for Roy's work. The man is fearless in his art, and we seem to share a grand appreciation for the old-style of comics and covers, which warms the cockles of my heart. He might look forward to what I pitch him for covers, but I look forward to seeing what he bats back at me, for sure. It's great to have him on board. Take care Don

I would say this was all alternate earth arrivals from over at DC3, save for the bit with the woman, the darkness, and the North Korean at the beginning.
Needless to say, Houston we have a problem!!!
Four stars.

Well, the beginning chapter was very confusing, but aside from that the rest of the issue moved along pretty well. The personalities were much more distinct this time around, especially Hawkman and Batman. I thought some of the banter between the Dinbys and Batman was a little forced, but aside from that I liked the dialoge also. Im not quite sure where this is going, but I certainly will keep reading to see where it ends up. I also have to really commend the cover artist for a totally silver age type cover. I'm a big silver age fan. A very big one and this cover just made me feel like I was looking at something from the late 70s or early 80s and that's a great thing.

Thanks for the kind words. Writing Sue and Ralph is a lot of fun, I have to say, and it's tough to keep the happy couple from taking over their scenes sometimes. There is a lot going on here, and it just gets busier and busier as the League needs to stretch itself to cover it all. But that's what heroes do. The covers Roy is putting out are great, he really captures the feel of each issue, and they're wonderfully Silver Age. It's great. Take care Don

I thought this issue was very layered and had a lot of good character moments in it. Hawkman was properly confrontational and warrior-like while Ray tries to be understanding but steadfast. Awesome stuff. I also like how Ralph and Sue are very sickeningly sweet.
The mystery with Mon-El makes me super curious, since he's a charcter who's had a lot of reboots and continuity changes, but what you've done here with him makes me still like him while also posing him as a very mysterious, very serious threat.
The ending line was hilarious in that morbid doom way.

Thanks for the review. There was a lot of work to make sure that the plot was large enough to command four issues, so a lot of the start-up here was doubtless confusing and added to the layers and thickness of writing, but the payoff makes it worth it, I hope. As for the characters you mention, as I said earlier in this thread, they are fun characters to write and each needs to have a distinctive role and voice right from the get-go. And the Dibnys in particulare are just too easy to get all sweet on each other.
The take on Mon-El was in response to a request from Scott Kruger over on Legion wanting to see Mon make a cool present day appearance, and when I pitched it to him, he was quite happy with it. So thanks to him for inspiring me and then letting me have my way with the poor kid. LOL
See you next issue.
Take care Don
