Wonderfully constructed, crisp dialogue, and easy to leap into if you've suddenly realised you didn't read the previous issue I'm enjoying this incarnation of the League, more Satellite than Big 7, but that works more so than I thought it could have. I'm of the school of thought that this is the best and biggest of the DC2 (nearly typed Marvel2 there, that could have been awkward) so it shouldn't contain characters like Manitou Dawn, or whoever, but you've made it work. Also, you're using one of my all time favourite villains as of the cliffhanger--! -- Now I've got to figure out if I've already used him...

First off, didn't see that ending coming, and like Charlie, I LOVE that villain, so that was five stars, right off the bat. Also thought the chapter on Thanagar was perfect, and since Katar's mother was a character I really enjoyed writing on my short run, I was interested to see how you were going to handle her. Answer: Bloody Brilliant!!! You took the history, added to it, and made it your own, all in a brief few paragraphs. What I find really funny is that your love for Anarky over in NO seems to rival my love for Manitou Dawn. ;D Probably one of my least favorite JL'ers of all time, but I will say that your writing and story telling is so consistently strong that there is no way I could mark down a star because of my personal dislike. Any chance next issue we get WW, Kendra, and Dawn in a hot tub?

I don't know why, but I kind of felt lost... It was written very good, but somehow ... I don't know how to explain it... I felt lost in the story... I didn't "feel" it as much as I did the last couple of issues.

first off, let me apologize for the lateness of the cover, entirely my fault. Now on to the praise, Sue is quickly becoming my favorite character. She is one of us, a regular person working with the freaking Justice League without powers or a grapple hook or 3 million dollar flying wing. I love her relationship with bats, though everyone seems to give him a hard time sometimes. Might be neat to see him give a little back. Don, you are the master of plot, no one can say that your stories aren't plot driven. Everything happens for a reason and you better pay attention, cause who knows what you might miss! I'll be back , hopefully with an on-time cover! on a side note....thank you thank you Mark, and whoever had the idea for the link to the letters page at the end of the issue, I think it's a capital idea! Capital.

Excellent balance of the epic nature of the heroes, the ongoing subplot from the first arc (didn't expect that) good villain moments, and the arrival of the Key. I enjoy Leauge-only villains, as opposed to when enemies of the indidivual members team up. Not that the latter isn't fun too, of course.

oh WOW. What an excellent piece, Don. You're always excellent but this takes the cake So very many little character moments, little chuckles all the way through, and such a bang to go out with! I want to say specifically that I like the way you're letting Dawn slowly get used to it all, it's a very cool thing to watch her grow into it, and very real. The tone in the Skull/Penny scene was really great, and I can't even start to point out everything that made me giggle and nearly spill my tea. But what an ending, suddenly so much suspense! Five stars, and can't wait for more!

Thank you all for the great comments. It's a challenge writing the League, but it's a fun one, lots of great characters large and small to play with. Sorry you didn't feel this issue so much, Riz. But it happens, and titles need to have their "breather" issues to let the readers recover and to let the action settle down a bit, set things up for the next big event. Here's hoping I can suck you back into the emotion with the next issue. Thanks for saying this was an easy "get-on-board" issue, Charlie. One of my aims was to let readers get acquainted or reacquainted with various elements that needed to take a backseat to the previous epic. Good to see it worked. I definitely am more Satellite era League. I loved the Big 7 stories, but the Big 7 have not really made up the great part of League history, and there's lots of room for the little guys that make up the history of this team. After all, Black Canary, Firestorm, Zatanna, Red Tornado...none of these guys were remotely "big leagues" when they were made members back in the day. That they're classic members now just demonstrates that some Leaguers are developed more slowly than others. So I'm glad you think the overall feel of the team works, because I think the JL should be more than just "the big 7 guns". The Key is a fan favorite? Cool. I love the guy too. Mine will be a bit different from Morrison's, but I hope to have all the elements that people like about him. His plot is suitably grandiose, I believe. And don't worry, Jay, I have a good mix of League-specific foes and member-nemeses coming up, I believe, so I hope you'll enjoy the selection. No one's mentioned it, but I loved writing Skull/Penny, and man, what was meant to be a quickie "criminal sequence to imply something bigger" has now given me a new story element I intend to play with some more. LOL Roy, thanks for a great cover, I loved it, worth the wait, and you've yet to let me down with a cover yet. Nothing scares you off, man, nothing! As for Sue, she's one of my favorites, and if you'll notice, she's the one character Batman doesn't really cut off rudely, and calls by a respectful name. You'll see how Batman views and deals with the Dibnys, and I hope to entrench the DC2U's "Nick and Nora Charles" as a respected, potent detective force. As for Batman getting some of his own back...well, you'll just have to wait and see. And if you draw the League women in a hot tub, i guarantee you the scene will be in the issue! Next issue, we wrap up the Key, and then you guys get to see Susan step into the pilot's seat for two issues that crosses over with her Weird Western series, and I encourage you all to check it out. She's got some great ideas, and it'll be a wild ride...AND it will have a great League-specific baddie in there that's just not done with our heroes once I return. So thanks again for everything that's been said, and see you all again soon! Don

This was an awesome issue! I really enjoyed this. The exchange between Sue and Bats was priceless. I like the way you guys are using her. Penny Dreadful, huh? Where'd you guys find her? Any chance next issue we get WW, Kendra, and Dawn in a hot tub? Hal: (raises hand) I would like to see that, too. (Diana, Dawn, and Kendra smile at Hal sweetly)
Diana: Hal, you do realize that I am a trained Amazon warrior?
Kendra: Not to mention I'm good with a mace?
Dawn: And I have an axe made of reality itself?
Hal: (chuckles nervously) Eh heh heh, I'm gonna go over there. Yeah, that's what I'm gonna do.

Well it was a good issue, as I've been enjoying this title, but I did feel like it was a bit forced. It felt like it was a little hard to follow in places, and that the plot was being clever for the sake of being clever. I enjoy extreme plotting (as I've enjoyed past Justice League issues and Booster Gold, which is very complex plot driven as well) and you are certainly a writer that balances the character development/handling and plot devices well, however this one kind of lost me in places. Then again, maybe it's me. Certainly was a good read, so please don't feel I'm being too critical.

I don't think you're being too critical at all. I appreciate your attempts to be even-handed in your praise as well as your critiques, and it's very important to receive both, at least for me. Glad you liked what did work, sorry you didn't like what didn't work, and if you can refine what was faltering or "too clever" (I don't know what you meant in context of this issue, but boy do I understand that area of criticism very well), I'd love to hear more. Sometimes though, a person can't quite define those elements well (happens to me a lot I know) so I understand if you can't. But let's hope the next issue picks up on the quality parts and leaves the lesser areas behind. Thanks for sticking around, speaking up and enjoying though, Shadow!
Take care Don
