Great beginning to this time traveling tale! Of course, I love time travel stories, when done right, and I have no doubt that if anyone can do it right, it's our very own Susan! The whole thing was excellent, but the training excercise at the beginning had to be my favorite part. Hal and Kendra? Hmmm... Hal is a bit of a hound dog? Time Lord is an extremely dangerous villain and was well written here. Psionic scramblers, let's hope those don't go on the black market anytime soon or a lot of our heroes will be in trouble! Now that we have leaguers missing, will Wonder Woman call in their resident detective to investigate? And where did the rest of the Leaguers disappear too? And who exactly is it that showed up to greet Hal? But most importantly, how long before Weird Western Quarterly? ? Terrific issue with a perfect looking cover, made this a great read! I am chomping on the bit for part 2!

Masterful. Shame we can't get you to do monthlies, eh, Susan? Great words, great pictures MADE with those words and hey, great pictures made by Borize. Heh. An interesting diversion from Don's run (though I'm a bit peeved it's disrupted, but I'll get over it ), and something I'll be back to read next month! And yeah, who the hell greeted Hal?

Boy, I was beginning to think I'd totally flopped with this story, since there'd been no responses until today. Glad at least two people liked it...thanks, buddies. Sorry if my story appears to be interrupting Don's work, Charlie. He made room for me on the JL schedule, and this is just where it happened to fall. Thanks again, Don, for doing such. And no way am I doing monthlies! I just sent out JL#16 for editing, and that was a bugger to get done on time. I like breathing room, I like not having to sit in front of the monitor 24/7, and if I went monthly, I would most likely go insane...well, more than I already am. The majority of your other questions -- including who's heading up the welcome wagon for Hal -- will be answered in WWQ#10, which is out in 2 weeks (same day as SSoV#2...I'm in competition with myself!). Hope to see y'all there!

"I am the Time Lord and you will obey me." Heh.
Sorry I didn't get to this sooner, I'm even more behind on my DC2 reading this week than usual. But you are my first stop.
And it's good stuff! Not that I expected anything else, of course, from this writer. From the pseudo-WWQ intro, to the jokes about male fantasies (guilty, staring at Kendra's midriff right now), to the unintentional Doctor Who refrence the Lord of Time always makes.....is awesome.
Question now is...did everybody end up in the old west? I kinda doubt it. Where did the others and the Time Lord go?

This is another story we've been waiting a long time for--- longer, even than Seven Soldiers, if I'm not mistaken!
And this first installment does not disappoint! Like Brian, I really enjoyed the training exercise, and the banter between the Leaguers. Kendra, of course, is a particular favorite, but I found myself won over by all of them in turn! Even Ralph (and I have an equally irrational dislkie for stretchy guys as I do for shrinky guys).
Also loved the dialogue of the Lord of Time! He sounded like a 1950s moustach-twirling movie-serial villain--- in a good way! He should be a fun villain to play around with, maybe like Dr. Light before he got so grim and pervy.
I love seeing Hal portrayed like the top-tier hero he is, especially in a team situation, showing his indomitable willpower. Looking forward to the team-up hinted at in the ending!
Awesome cover, Riz! You really brought the Lord of Time to life. BTW, has anyone read Soon I Will Be Invincible by Austin Grossman? Everytime the Lord of Time spoke, I heard Dr. Impossible...! It's a pretty good (and funny) book, and I highly reccommend it!

Y'know, I really wanted to work in a Doctor Who joke somewhere in this story, but I just couldn't swing it. See, David? My talent has limits. The intro was written specifically to poke fun at myself, right down to Kendra's comment about it being so cliche. I did my best to write that part in a sterotypical Western fashion, which I normally try to avoid in WWQ. Hopefully, it'll set up a nice contrast for what's to come. And I will admit, even though I don't swing that way, that Kendra is a total hottie in that outfit, especially that midriff thing she's got going. (ducks to avoid getting stuck with the pike) ;D Writing the Lord of Time's dialogue is fun. I don't normally get to make somebody sound so pompous. Worse part is, he believes every bit of it! Best line I did for him is in Part 3, though...you'll see.

Good stuff with this issue. I love the four characters playing around in a wild west town. That was a different sort of setting that immediately puts the reader in a receptive mood for where the tale is heading. I thought the characters were by and large true to themselves, and the Lord of Time...well pompous and arrogant seem to truly define time-traveling masterminds so he lives up to his obligations. LOL
I was lucky to get a chance to see a sneak peek of this, and knew a treat was headed the readers' way. Looking forward to the next two parts (okay, looking forward to commenting..yeah, I got lucky enough to read the whole three-parter already, and it does just keep getting better).
Good pacing, fun interaction, and a delightful throwback cover. It makes me happy to see that old style in action so often here on DC2. Good work, people
Take care Don

Ladies and gentlemen, raise your glasses to the founder of the feast! Don could have easily vetoed my idea of invading his book with my crazy notions, but he didn't, and I am truly grateful for that...because it would have taken me six months to do this in WWQ alone, and y'all would have killed me if I made you wait that long. Okay, next week is Part 2 over in WWQ (hey, I rhymed!). And since you folks expect it in a Western, I promise there will be barfights and gunfire, but only one explosion (we wasted the budget on guest stars, y'know -- these spoiled Yankees wanted air-conditioned trailers!). See you there!

Roy very kindly filled a gap caused by a Photobucket explosion, meaning we lost an inevitably wonderful piece of Boris art. Thankfully, Roy's the man and the replacement is beautiful!
