A bloody briliant finale to a bloody brilliant three parter! Everything was spot on about EVERYTHING, and Susie, your grasp of the western heroes as ever was pitch perfect, and the interaction with the Justice League was wonderful. Loved the argument Hal and Jonah had, loved the way the Mast-- excuse me, The Lord of Time was defeated. His thoughts were great, and Jonah shooting him? Well what else was he expecting?! I'm really glad that you had a chance to delve into the mainstream of the DC2 with this arc, and it was great seeing you work on something that, for a while at least, was out of your comfort zone. You couldn't tell that it was something you didn't normally do!

Y'know, you could mistake the Lord of Time for the Master, couldn't you? They both have that evil-looking beard going on there...man, I really wish I could've worked in a Doctor Who joke on this story! The bit between Jonah and the Lord of Time actually went through a couple rewrites, because the first version was a lot more intense, and Don asked me to dial it back a bit becuse it came off very one-sided. I'll let you figure out in whose favor the first version was. ;D Though I enjoy the heck out of reading such stories, writing them is a whole different matter, but it was worth the trouble to get the story out there. Despite evidence to the contrary (this piece and the SSoV mini), I'm much happier writing "normal" people, and plan on sticking with that from now on. Hey, somebody's gotta keep the "oaters" genre alive!

WHOA! This was one heck of a great ending to this story. In part 2 I was all about Bat, but Hex stole this story. His teaming with Hal was a brilliant idea and you really gave him so much character in this that he felt as real as any character I've ever seen in the DC2
This was a five star experience from beginning to end. In fact, Jonah's confrontation with the Lord of Time will probably go down as one of my all time favorite moments on this site.
Another five stars to Riz for his creative and well drawn cover.
Now excuse me while I work my way over to a certain Amazon Princess.

I wish I could take credit for teaming up Hex and GL, but that goes to Gerry Conway way back in 1982, whose story is the basis for this one. The man had good concepts, but his executions of said concepts never seemed to pan out in my opinion, and I really wanted to rectify that in this version.
Anyhow, maybe it's just me, but Hal and Jonah seem to have a bit in common, personality-wise. Now if they could just come to terms about the whole "no killing" problem...
Riz totally surprised me with the cover. I asked for a group picture, but I was thinking more like a "mad dash at the camera" shot, like the cover to "Secret Wars" or something. Then Riz PMs me and says, "I had this idea in my head, and I couldn't draw anything else until I did it." The idea was this cover...and how the heck could I say no to that!

The Lord of Time is a walking reference to the Master, even if unintentionally so. I've known that since the Morrison JLA/WildCATs crossover a few years ago that featured him.
The lethal force argument is a familiar one to me. On the one hand, I firmly beleive that heroes shouldn't kill. On the other, I know that ordinary folks don't have the luxury of that option. Or to put it another way, you have to BE Batman in order to not need to use a gun in situations like that.
A VERY good story, and proves you can handle superheroes as well as the Old West!

An excellent conclusion to this tale. The characters were solid, and seeing the various pairings and teams was a delight. And of course, some very nice story seeds dropped for both your future WWQ series (one of the must-reads on this site, people!) and for my JL run, for which I'm quite grateful on your part for the work you put in to modify what you had planned for my outlines. That was kind and professional of you, and of course, you topped that by providing a solid blockbuster of a tale.
Good stuff, Susan. Congratulations.
And congrats to Riz, who drew an absolutely awesome cover with a great design sense. that's a fantastic piece of art.
Take care Don

Never saw the Wildcats stuff, Jay, sort of out of my area. I do agree about the lethal force issue, though. I actually made it a point for nobody to get killed by our cowpokes in this story, just to keep the Leaguers from looking at them in that "bad guy" light -- if you recall, Hex only TALKS about killing, he never actually does any, so it kind of skirts the line.
Thanks for reading, Don! And yeah, kids, you read that right, there's more madness spinning out of this story, for both JL and WWQ. It'll take a while longer to be evident in my book, but for Don's, you should be seeing the result in...what, a couple months? Watch the skies, people!

Susan kept some of Boris' original art, so I'm very pleased to reinstate the following as the cover to this stellar issue-- and the finale of the classic Weird Western Quarterly / Justice League crossover!
The interesting thing? We're going to see a prequel / sequel very soon...
