First thing's first: Wow.
That was a very impressive story. A massive hero vs. henchmen fight (or super gangbang, if you will) that is executed amazingly.
I love this team so much and it's great to see all these people in action. Grace, Ollie and Connor stand out in this issue. Helena and Dinah's confrontation was very tense and very beautifully written. And Plas...well, I really feel for Plas.
Gambler also being the Terra-Man adds a whole other layer to his character. He's now a much more interesting character (not to say he wasn't before. I'm just not as big a fan of mastermind archetype villains) and a much more believable threat (or unbvelievable, as it were).
Regarding Kate Spencer, there is nothing I could say about her that hasn't been said already. Her hardships and personal drama are so wonderfully written. Her determination and strength make her such a great character and gives you the sense that she is the only person in this book who could go through this sh*t.
Ollie, Plas and Zee, you're all in my thoughts. Along with Henchman #24.
As always, i'll be back next month. Keep it up.

Plas, Ollie and Zee have taken some serious punishment here, and i'd

Thanks, it's going to be a LONG time before I work with that many characters again. I'm glad these characters shown through for you, especially Plas. There are a couple of storylines coming up with Plas front and center. One that I'm really looking forward to that will be a cross-over with.... well... you'll see. Wow, glad we've got one yes vote for Gambler's real identitity. Mark and I have worked on it since we first came together as writer and Editor, and when Roy joined us with his brilliant idea's, everything seemed to fall into place. [/quote]Regarding Kate Spencer, there is nothing I could say about her that hasn't been said already. Her hardships and personal drama are so wonderfully written. Thanks much, and I'm dying to know how you were going to end this. This could be the first cliff-hanger letter! This issue, though, could not have been done without the HUGE input and help of both Mark Bowers and Roy Flunchum. Talk about some great collaberators. I thank you both for being my friends and a part of this wonderful world we've created! Danke!

Bloody Hell, that was some intense action right there. I remember why Eel joined the No in the first place, with Zatanna slowly going to the dark side, and having her be the one to save him was perfect, and kind of buried the unknown hatchet between them. Superman was very aggressive in this issue, and I liked that and the rational behind it. "What happens in Vegas, stays in--" It was good that Lois and Jimmy talked him down, not that he needed talking down. This is Superman, for gosh sakes! I thought it was a really nice little wrap up. Another phase of the New Outsiders tied up neatly, though with all those injured members and Green Arrow (GREEN ARROW! ) how he is, I'll be back next month to see how everything comes together.

Thanks much, and I'm dying to know how you were going to end this. This could be the first cliff-hanger letter! Ugh. Effing typos... BTW, death has in fact caught up to Henchman #24. He was trapped in the Monarchmobile when he needlessly buckled his seatbelt. H.E.L.P.eR. stole it to go help the family, not knowing the Monarch had strapped a bomb to his back. Dr. Girlfriend left the trigger for it in the cocoon, which was activated by an unknown assailant (I'm thinking it was the murderous Moppets). #24 was caught in the explosion, his still flaming head landing in the hands of #21. -UDC

It had been a while since I had written any huge action scene's and felt very rusty. As for the Superman moments... those were all Roy. I was so happy to be able to do this cross-over with him! And what he has coming up in Superman is going to blow you away. The fate of Ollie (and Eddie, for that matter) will be seen in Green Arrow #12, guest starring... Green Lantern! And then next month's Outsiders will begin yet another chapter, and another turning point, in many lives. Thank you for taking the time to read and respond. I always look forward to your comments.

You did the big battle scene just fine, as I knew you would.
And gee Huntress, why wouldn't Kate want your help? Cuz you've been an ice-cold bitch to her, maybe?
Awesomeness at every turn, especially Superman giving Gambler what he deserved.
One sour note, however; I really don't see how Tamara fits in with the deck. She wouldn't play second fiddle to them, I don't think. Coming to get Zatanna, that I can see. But actually putting on a Flush Gang uniform? Not really, no.
But that is one minor quibble in a sea of awesomeness.
Time for a new Outsiders HQ, methinks....

You did the big battle scene just fine, as I knew you would. Thanks for that. Those things make me very nervous. The relationship between these two is going to get even more tense in the next few months. Hear that Roy! They're loving your stuff, my man! Take the bow, cause you deserve it! Well, she was a member of the original Gang and I think there's a bit of loyalty there. Although knowing Tamara, she joined in more to tick off her sister than anything. You think? Yep, I'm thinking the same thing. ;D Thanks Jay! For everything.

Did a marathon read with this story (Action, then GA, then the Annual), and let me tell you, it's a lot to digest. There were some bumps in the storytelling here and there (and some annoying typos) but it all came together at the end. Lordy, first they blow up half of Gotham, and now you decide to wipe out Vegas! The real estate value in the DCU is sinking fast!
The Gambler IS Terra-Man! There's a mash-up I didn't see coming! Somehow, you made a goofy concept interesting...not an easy task.
Heck of a battle at the end -- as someone who just finished writing a large-scale fght scene, I feel your pain -- with so many jaw-dropping moments. For a second there, I thought Ollie really WAS dead! And Superman nearly loses it! And Grace drops more F-bombs than I've ever heard her do before!
Can't wait to see where the team goes from here...maybe a change of localle?
P.S.: I actually thought of this a while back, but forgot to ask. Is the name "Fero" supposed to be a variation on "faro" (which was a popular card game in the Old West) or am I seeing things that aren't there?

The real estate value in the DCU is sinking fast! You read all three at once! That is a lot to digest! It's funny that you mention all the blowing up, I was thinking the same thing as the casino went down. (sets my eyes on Central City) Glad it worked for you. I can't take credit for it, though. Mark was the one who first brought up the idea. I just stole it and ran with it. Aren't those battles just SO much fun. Superman was really pushed to his limit and Ollie's condition will be wrapped up in this coming issue of GA. And I guess it doesn't pay to get Grace ticked off! Leave Las Vegas?! Hmmm... I always wondered how The New Outsiders would do in Hub City... HEY ROY!!! Susan got it! Exalt, Susan! Roy named the company and that was exactly the reason why!

Hey, I'd probably have to resign as writer for WWQ if I didn't get a reference like that...though it DID take a couple months for it to sink in. I kept seeing the word and thinking "Ferro", as in "iron". In everyone else's defense, though, I don't think anybody plays faro anymore. Heck, even I don't understand how that game is played, I just fake it by not going into details when I mention it.

Exalt from me as well Susan. When we were talking about naming the corporation I started researching the way gambling was done in the ole west and came across that. I loves doing me research.

This was a good conclusion to the storyline. Lots of big slam-bang action and destruction that leaves an interesting place for the Outsiders to go from here. I loved Kate's choice...to be blatantly honest, just as heroic in my opinion as anything the Outsiders did in this issue. being a mother is important, especially for a child who is in the middle of trauma, and she made the right call. I love this woman more and more.
The results of the battle were painful and I felt for each member for certain. That was some serious damage going on, on personal and larger scales.
However, the reveal of Gambler as Terra-Man doesn't work for me. It just really didn't. The Royal Flush Gang being the Deck was an interesting twist, but made it another secret society to take over the world in a large ocean of them, so while it kind of works on a neatness level, it doesn't really grab me. And Tamara's appearance seemed merely to provide a counterpoint to Zatanna, rather than something integral to the story or the Deck organization. Sorry for the negative aspects.
The largest of the battle scenes didn't always quite work for me, but those are so hard to carry across in prose form anyway. However, there were quite a number of other fight sequences and action scenes that were quite dynamic and more than make up for the larger ones that fell flat (for me).
It was a good ending. Not a great ending, not a "knock me out" conclusion, sorry to say. I'm going to be the heretic sadly. But I did enjoy the ending, and I do like the way things are left hanging in a number of areas for the team of my dreams. That kind of dangling thread skill to keep the readers enticed is a tremendous hallmark of yours, Brian.
Congratulations on a big, big story brought to a solid (and to many of your fans, thriling) conclusion. Hard work borne out in the end.
Take care Don

I love this woman more and more. Nothing could make me happier, Don. I'm really investing a lot of my own feelings as a parent in this, and trying to balance who Kate is as a parent, a lawyer, and a hero. But I promise this is all building up to a very large turning point. Sometimes when you're a parent, your heart and passions can over ride your brain. Yep, as I said, this team is not going to be able to go back, and what is a head of them will be some rather interesting changes. I'm sorry Terra-Man as Gambler didn't work for you. as for The Royal Flush Gang, that's an even bigger bummer for me. It was my first concept that I presented to Dave, Brandon, Scott, and Charlie when I came aboard. I really wanted to make the RFG much more than a two bit thug group. But who says that they haven't already taken over the world. Well, I can't argue with that. I wanted Tamara back and actually had written a rather long piece between her and Zee, but I cut it because the whole thing was way too long. Next time Tamara appears in the DC2, I can promise you that her ties with The Deck have been severed. And please don't apologize for something you didn't like. I appreciate all thoughts. Well I'm glad some of them worked. It is really challenging to do large battle scene's. When I finish them, I always say I'll never do another one, but then (like my days directing musicals), I think, how can I make it better... next time. I'm a masochist. I'm glad the ending was at least satisfying for you, Sir! I'm also glad dangling threads keep people coming back. My favorite comics are those that do that. And this team has such interesting times a head of it. ;D Thank you very much. And thank you, as always, for taking the time to read and respond. I appreciate all the comments and thoughts.
