And here we...go!
Once again, this series proves to be one of the most consistently outstanding titles on the site. I was worried that a Civil War was developing at first, but thank god that didn't happen.
Kate proves herself as one of the wisest people on the team, even in a crippling depression like that. Not only that, but Grace, one of my favorite characters in DC, is having some time to shine. And god help me, I think I may finally respect Anarky.
As always, I anxiously await the next issue. Keep up what you're doing.

Alot of things came to a head here! On the one hand, it was great because all of the stuff that has been building up for 10 issues are finally gonna get resolved (you know, I think it's still unclear why Kate was given the Manhunter suit) and Ihope we get some stuff straightened out so the team will stop being so "broken."
The only problem I had was the issue went really fast. There was a lot of necessary compression that I felt made some of the scenes go a little too fast.
Overall though, great issue, and I can't wait to read next month!

I was worried that a Civil War was developing at first, but thank god that didn't happen. It was a bit touch and go, wasn't it? I wanted to walk that line without going full fledge over it. These are strong characters with strong opinions, ready to fight for their beliefs, no matter what. Still, they do have a lot of respect for each other as well, and I was hoping that both sides were shown in the end. Is Kate wise, or has she just given up? I guess only time will tell. As for Grace, she's about to get quite a bit more time to shine in the months to come. This is one of those stories that will effect everyone in the long run... some in more major ways than others, but there won't be one Outsider that doesn't feel the impact of Vito's murder in some way. And what's not to respect about Anarky? Thank you, and as always, I anxiously await your thoughts and comments.

You think the team is broken?! Actually I like to think of them as strong willed individuals who have some how found a way to work together; creating what I like to think of as one of the most dysfunctional families in team book history. And things will be resolved within the first several months of the new year... and as is typical, more questions will also be raised. You are right, though, we are very unclear oon why Kate was given the suit, but that too will be answered in 2009 The funny thing is, this was one of the longer issue's I've written, but truth be told, I always have to cut stuff because if I was left to my own devices, I could have 30 + pages easily. These characters just fascinate the daylights out of me. So I have to be careful, because I'm always afraid I may start going off on long tangents that would probably bore most of the other readers. I'm glad you liked the issue though, and thank you very much for reading and commenting on it. I also want to give a huge shout out to my partners in crime. Roy's covers to New Outsiders (is it the longest run for an artist on one title? I'm not sure) was beautiful. And an even bigger shout out to Mark who really helped me a LOT this issue. Choreographing a large whodunit is not easy, and Mark has been very integral in helping me keep all the suspects, clues, and whatnot's, in line.

Huntress was right, and Manhunter, for crying out loud why let yourself be unmasked?
Or is Kate being set up as someone who didn't last in the costumed community long?
I wish the characters good luck. They'll need it.

my only problem with this issue was the "compression" the rapscallion mentioned..... but at the same time I see where it was necessary.... sometimes if you don't compress it a bit, you'll be left with a bunch of extra bits at the end that you just can't stretch into another coherent chapter...... that said, this was a pretty solid issue, I thought... looking forward to next months

Kate's life is spiraling out of control... out of the frying pan and into the fire. This is your standard... sock you in the gut and then smile while I am doing it issues. Good stuff Brian.. shocked me... looking for the next month. Any hints in what you're going to do? **** from me. Roy's piece was good... not the best of the week though. *** from me on the cover. Looks like NO is off to the a rocking start to 2009... thank God I am hanging on for dear life.

I wish the characters good luck. They'll need it. Well, Kate herself is definately feeling as though there is nothing left for her. Ramsey's death has pretty much destroyed her at this moment. And who are you refering to, may I ask. Cause you never know where the twists will happen in a murder mystery.

I will work on that compression issue. Glad you enjoyed it, though.

Kate's life is spiraling out of control... out of the frying pan and into the fire. This is your standard... sock you in the gut and then smile while I am doing it issues. Kate's life isn't the only one who's going to be effected before this monster is over. But she has caught the brunt of it, hasn't she? And the poor woman has just started in the hero business. Makes you wonder how this all might change her... mwahahahaha. Well, Kate is the main suspect, but Batwoman did find something at the crime scene that might shift suspicions... and Helena has her own idea's on who killed her father. I'm calling next issue: "The Unusual Suspects" Thank you. I'm hoping 2009 is a banner year for these guys, because as usual, nothing stays the same, and I can almost guarentee that there will be some controversy by the end of this year. Someone on this board may even hate me by the end of it. Hey! Who through that at me! I know it was you, Jay! ;D

Don't wanna throw anything at you. Just worried. Very, very worried.
And I was referring to all of the Oustiders. Not any one or two.

The amazing character work you've always done on this book continues to shine here. I swear, I'm easily as fascinated by the interactions between the heroes as I am with what they do, i.e. the action sequences. You have a way of taking characters I don't know or are unfamiliar with and making them interesting for me. I hardly know Manhunter, but I'm already hooked by her (don't pull a Vigilante with her, please) and the numbness and depression she feels seems very realistic. And Grace is a riot, at least in the way she talks, but that could be just me. I think profanity is funny.
The fight between the Outsiders seemed "appropriate", given the personalities of the characters involved and the desperateness of the situation. I hope a permanent rift doesn't develop here though.
The whodunnit has really only begun, and I'm expecting the unexpected, as you can't have a good one without a few twists and turns. And if Manhunter is able to turn her grief into anger and focus I would fear for anyone who gets in her way. I would say the same for Huntress, but I fear for anyone who gets in her way already.
Can't wait for the next installment.

I can't say much more than has already been said about the quality of the plot of this book (high!), so let me heap some praise on as a writer. The pacing of this book has been outstanding. OUTSTANDING. I know how frustrating it can be to plant certain seeds a long time ago, and to walk away for a bit, but to see them pay of must be a great feeling. Amazing job by all parties.

It's exactly what I strive for with each issue. Of anything I have written, these are the characters that have really wrapped themselves into my mind and heart, so I'm glad when someone else sees or even feels that. And Grace is really funny, isn't she?! I get a kick out of being able to write a hero who swears like a sailor. Part of what I appreciate with this group is that all of these folks have very strong opinions and beliefs, so butting heads is going to be par for the course, but there's also a mutual respect from many of them... and something you will be seeing more of this year as well. Oh Kate is evolving my friend... very much so. ;D
Can't wait for the next installment.
That's great to hear! Thank you for taking the time to read and respond. I hope I can keep you interested.

I finally had the chance to read all the issues I had missed while I was away from the DC2 and I'm just overwhelmed. Brian, why aren't you writing real comics? That would be winning every possible award and price out there. Man, that was good!!!

I always wondered how they read in a row. I hope the best is yet to come.
