Booya! That's what I'm talking about! This was one hell of a story packaged inside an annual, and a great continuation of all the threads I've seen woven over the past few months! The return of some dead heroes, the return of some dead... well, you know, and the training of a new hero-- but is it for the best? Time will tell! Great to see Midnight, great to see those I though long gone, and fantastic to see the return of certain other characters! Gah, I'm psyched for this, but don't want to ruin it for anyone coming in! I loved the world building you did, but thought "orc-looking creatures" or whatever the line was, to be quite a versimilitude ruining description-- it took me out of a pretty much untouchable piece of prose. The Shiners were terrifying! The whole land they found themselves to be inside was daunting on so many levels! The ending reminds me of the great 1951 arc of Starman, and that's one of the best compliments I can ever give someone when I compare them favourably to Starman, so, Brian, you've done amazing work, loved the prophecy, loved the team you assembled, and I'm loving that the craziest, most f'd up and inventive crossover of the DC2 is about to win!
Long live the Danger Trail! And long live the New Outsiders! Bravo!

Now, this was certainly a change of pace...! This was a very different type of issue than we usually get from this title, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it, though no doubt an interesting mix of Grail Questing with Danger Trailing...
Loved the revelations of Azrael's identity, and really enjoyed the Second Prophecy of St. Dumas. Some serious menace building there! Makes me wonder, though, about when the Third prophecy will rear its head.
Not the type of story I typically enjoy, but well-told and intriguing in the various developments. Looking forward to following this crossover into next issue!
That cover by Jamie Rimmer is a work of fine art. The tarot card illustration of Zee and Huntress is a stroke of genius, and Azrael looks badass!

Fun stuff. I like that the St. Dumas storyline is finally getting adressed, and that the Church of Blood is really stepping up to become a formidable big bad. The motley crew is a very interesting combination (though I don't know how I feel about Zee's magic fixing a major crisis. Again) and the new Azrael has a lot of potential. The general sword-and-sorcery theme was cool (mostly because i'm deeply involved with my copy of Dragon Age: Origins right now) and the story was a good set-up for a sure to be epic story. Keep up the good work.

Working with him has been a real pleasure. I hope you enjoy the ride.

Glad you liked that reveal. It's been sitting out there for a while now. The second prophecy was fun to write. I've never done anything in that vein before - and it probably shows. LOL! I'm really sorry you didn't enjoy it more, David. It was something different that I wanted to try. I hope the story becomes more enjoyable for you. Amazing cover isn't it! I was really floored by it.

Azrael and the Suit of Sorrows will be one of the focal points in the cross-over. You might want to check out The Danger Trail too since this is going to be a cross-over with shocks and twists in both titles!

You know, I thought a detected a Eddings vibe... Brian, you are so good at this stuff that if I don't quite get it, it forces me to question my own aesthetic. But to keep this in proper perspective, usually I really, really love a new issue of New Outsiders; this time I only really loved it, so no disappointment here at all .

I have a question: Whose decision was it to go with the new Azrael costume design for the DC2 version? I've always been a fan of classic Azrael, and I don't know what to think of nu_Azrael. Just wondering
