Been meaning to comment on this after reading it a few days ago . I really liked the issue overall. Lord Havok and his goons were definitely pretty tough but the way they defeated them was unexpected with J'onn's whole 'mental lobotomy' thing. Loved how Hawkman seemed so willing to defend the lobotomy when the others questioned it. So Hawkmanish and that was just a nice character touch. The end cliffhanger was also pretty exciting. Being a big fan of the New Gods, I'm concerned that they seem to no longer exist... Good issue though and looking forward to seeing what's up with the New Gods next issue.

Fantastic issue! I am so impressed with the work Charlie has been doing here and in Green Lantern (and elsewhere, no doubt), the best work of his DC2 career thus far. This issue was a smash finish to an action-packed arc, filled with a truly credible League-level threat of scary villains and some terrific character work.
The Extremists seemed an almost insurmountable enemy, but the League was smarter (I'm thinking of Hal's modern twist on the old "I switch the polarities" bit, J'onn taking out Havoc and Batman and Blue Beetle giving the King of the Seas exactly what he needed (even if it was Parisian sewer water).
I had some concerns that the cast was getting too big (what, Blue Beetle now, too!) but everyone was handled brilliantly and not wasted as costumed window-dressing.
The new circumstance of the League HQ is interesting, as well. A floating base, huh? Is the Hall of Justice still around, too?
Scott and Barda crashing in at the end sets up what could possibly be a defining League epic, and I really can't wait to see how this turns out!
Jamie's cover is big and fun and kinetic, with the heroes leaping straight of the screen. Even Animal Man looks like a bad ass and that is hard to do!
Five stars, fellas! Bring on the Fourth World!

Glad you took the time, was beginning to get worried Lord Havok and his goons were definitely pretty tough but the way they defeated them was unexpected with J'onn's whole 'mental lobotomy' thing. Loved how Hawkman seemed so willing to defend the lobotomy when the others questioned it. So Hawkmanish and that was just a nice character touch. This isn't the end of it, Aquaman and J'onn talk it out next issue, but the way that Havok took them apart? I think it's more than understandable. Not that it's right, but that's going to be part of J'onn's year long arc. Big plans. The end cliffhanger was also pretty exciting. Being a big fan of the New Gods, I'm concerned that they seem to no longer exist... Next issue... Good issue though and looking forward to seeing what's up with the New Gods next issue. ...and #50.

Very pleased to introduce Lord Havok here, was upset to see that some people didn't receive them well, but hopefully readers will be back next issue. Just upset no one is really reading, but that's across the board and not just on League, heh. If the League is going to be this brilliant collective of superheroes, then the threats have to be scary, conniving and really damn dangerous. That was something Don did with IU and all his threads and villains, and I'm hoping to continue that trend. It was great to have all these threats come together as I wrote it, with each hero really having their moment. I had some concerns that the cast was getting too big (what, Blue Beetle now, too!) but everyone was handled brilliantly and not wasted as costumed window-dressing. Blue Beetle is a reservist, and won't be making regular appearances after next issue. He will be back though, but right now he's busy enough in his own title Saying that, bye Beetle, hello... three new members ;D The new circumstance of the League HQ is interesting, as well. A floating base, huh? Is the Hall of Justice still around, too? The Hall of Justice will be addressed next arc, don't you worry! And yes, the current, nameless floating base is their main base of operations. A step up from a flying city, right? Scott and Barda crashing in at the end sets up what could possibly be a defining League epic, and I really can't wait to see how this turns out! It's the longest form arc I've got going on site, lasting until my potential final issue in #50, but everything will be addressed, and it's gonna rock. Jamie's cover is big and fun and kinetic, with the heroes leaping straight of the screen. Even Animal Man looks like a bad ass and that is hard to do! Yeah, Jamie did good with that one-- it was the first issue with all the new League in one place, and I'm really happoy with how it ended up! Five stars, fellas! Bring on the Fourth World! Don't you mean Fifth? ...oops.
