Short but sweet, but a beautiful coda to an era of New Outsiders. The moments set in the past were harrowing, I was so nervous for the characters, but the reveal, nay, the origin, of Black Canary II was pitch perfect. I'm loving the continuing evolution of Plastic Man, and what's this-- Rose Psychic joining the ranks of the Outsiders for a while? Until Zatanna returns? That's the kind of development I can go for. That being said, Brian, I don't think anyone could handle the passing of this character other than you, it was just... I don't know, words won't do it justice.
Looks like we're going to see an interesting next step forward for the Outsiders, and I can't wait for the next generation. Glad to see you're using next month's JSA special as a chance to reflect on Black Canary I's passing. Bravo, sir.

An excellently played denouement from the hectic and epic Affair the team recently went through. Emotions abound, guilt and worry hang around the necks of each member, and each member shows it in different ways. Between Batwoman's situation and Dinah's moments with her mother, and the momentary touches at Speed's funeral (possibly the oddest funeral scene yet, as you'll see more of it in Birds of Prey #1 and Seven Soldiers #15 LOL so don't worry, those who wonder why so and so wasn't there) with Rose and Jay, all of this had a great resonance.
You handled this excellently well, and I'll definitely be looking forward to how events continue to play out for all our members. Congratulations, Brian.
Take care Don

It seems like the Outsiders are always on the outs (pun) and this issue was no different. Still, with the team in disarray, there's always a good story to be told, and Dinah's relationship with her mother, and the true hero that Black Canary I was, was all beautifully told without being heavy-handed. Plastic Man with Black Canary still kind of weirds me out, but I can buy it a little more because the Plastic Man of this site seems to be a lot more wise and deep than the one from the other DC. His dialogue with Rose Psychic show the awesomeness behind the jokester facade and with the team breaking down, the addition of her to the team only promises more interesting twists and turns. A slow issue after a massive crossover that made me eager to see more. Nice work. -D.L. Mann

Rose will be around for a little while and a huge thank you to Don for letting her hang out with the gang. Glad you liked the Black Canary II origin. It was fun to right. I hope you enjoy April's JSA. The line up for the Outsiders isn't really going to change that much actually. Though there will be one more member taking a break and a new member who you can catch a first glimpse of in issue #51. Thank you very much for reading and responding. Your opinion always means a lot, my friend.

Thank you Don. There was more of the funeral that I wanted to do but in the end I was afraid it might detract from the main story. I'm excited to see more of the funeral myself (including the mysterious talk between Greg Saunders and Huntress. Hmmm...) Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. Walking the Danger Trail was the scariest experience I've had here, the most challenging, and the most fun.

Still, with the team in disarray, there's always a good story to be told, and Dinah's relationship with her mother, and the true hero that Black Canary I was, was all beautifully told without being heavy-handed. I'm glad you enjoyed the story of Dinah Sr. I have a huge respect for all those Golden Age characters and remember as a young boy reading the old comics while vacationing in northern Michigan's Upper Pennisula. Black Canary, Hourman, Alan Scott and Dr. Midnight were my favorites, so it was a real honor that our resident Golden Age scribe, David Charlton, let me have the opportunity to do this. If you get a chance check out his awesome finale to his multiUniversal epic over in JSA and then check out this months issue for Dinah's funeral. Plas and Dinah's relationship has actually weirded me out a little too because it's actually become a very organic thing that I wasn't expecting it to be. I'm not sure where it's going at this point, but I'm enjoying the daylights out of them. By slow, I hope you didn't mean boring. Hope you come back in May for the battle of the century: Batwoman Vs. Batgirl. Wrestling in lime jello. That last bit is a lie, but I hope it get's more readers.
