Welcome to another week of Planet DC2!
House Of Mystery filling-in for Sebastian Gutierrez Sanchez this time round, not that he needed a fill-in, but because… Well… Y'know… I asked for this opportunity!
Now I have to warn you, oh-faithful readers, when I go about something, I don't go about it in some lazy way, so expect mucho news and teasers this week, as WE DELVE INTO THE MINDS OF THE DC2 CREATIVE STABLE!
...
Anyway, as my compadre Sebastian informed you last week, Suicide Squad is going to be undergoing a change of writers, but before then, John Elbe is delivering the long awaited Suicide Squad Annual #1, something that we at the DC2 have been excited by for a long time! Featuring interior art by some of the DC2's finest, and a cover by DrDread, expect twists and turns galore as we usher in a new era of this site's favourite team of Government sponsored super villains!
As I look around my own desk I'm seeing quite quite a few pages of plots, so let's have a look at what we've got... Some plots here concerning some new books that will be coming your way in the future... I'm seeing stuff about "Deathstroke the Terminator"... A book called "Doorway To Nightmare"... And issues of something called... Justice League Vs America? Weird. I wonder what that could be about.
Arcalian, our resident Terra fan and new staff writer had this to say: "For everybody who rolled their eyes at my complaining about the NO issue; for everybody who thinks I can't do something dark myself; watch Squad. Watch Enchantress and June [Moone]. Watch and wait."
Which scared me slightly.
You should have seen his eyes...
My friend Brian Burchette, our very own Starlord, had this very tasty morsel of tease for the fans of the DC2, regarding something that's been building up for the past... Two years? The ever bombastic Brian had this to say: "The DC2 is coming to the end of its second astounding year, and we would be remiss if we didn't celebrate with another monumental crossover!
Keep your eyes open for clues in all of the titles, as our heroes hurtle towards their second major Crisis! A Crisis that will rock the very foundation that it was built upon!"
And if I may build on this for a moment, I'd just like to say... You want IXXE? You'd better be checking out books that date back as far as our first month! Wonder Woman #0 for instance... You might want to have a rummage around there!
More news on the Seven Soldiers of Victory miniseries front from Susan Hillwig: One of DC2's newest and hottest artists, Craig Cermak, had been tapped to provide covers. I've been so impressed with the few pieces he's done for the site so far that I personally offered him the job, to which he replied, "The Seven Soldiers of Victory?? SOLD." He promises that he'll "give it the uniqueness that it has compared to the other super-teams." Now I just hope I can deliver a story that can live up to his pictures!
Oh come on Susan. I think everyone here will agree with me that you will deliver more awesome than anyone else will expect!
On a "crossover" front, the long missed Elseworlds writer [name redacted] (The Knight) will be returning in the coming months, this time picking up the reins of a popular DC2 icon, co-writing... ACTION COMICS!
After spending a couple of hours DELVING into the catacombs that are the Writer's Workshops, I have heard whispers of a new project, edited by David Charlton, written by some of the most talented writers on the site... With covers from that super speed supremo Craig Cermak! Right now, writers signed up include: Arcalian! Starlord! RomansEmpire! Crow!
Also coming in the next month or so, will be ACTION COMICS ANNUAL #2, spinning out of the mysterious and cataclysmic last moments of Action Comics #14, this extra large book will shake the DC2 Superman mythos to the core, as we discover the truth about KRYPTON, something that will have ramifications for the ongoing series! This tour de force of awesome will be written by someone not unfamiliar with the inner workings of Superman, someone who wrote issues 6 to 8 of Adventures of Superman, our very own DrDread (the aforementioned arc entitled "Truth, Justice & The American Way")!
Anyway, that's enough news for you this week. Check in next week as Seb SNATCHES back the reins, and bombards you with more peaks into the inner workings of the DC2niverse!
I think I'll leave you with an image you will come to remember at the DC2, as these four men become MAJOR players in the DC2 in the coming months:
