Hello back to the Planet DC2!!!
Yes, I'm back, with another interview! This time, a little different. Ramon (Brigante133) and I talked, and after lost in translations and some errors in my computer, we did it. Here it is, today's interview:
What do you think about the DC2?
I kind of hate DC2. I hate it like I hate peanuts and I can't stop eating peanuts. But that's just me. I got my own cross to bear
This being because you are the art director?
No, even before I was art director, even when all i had to do was draw like one or two pictures a month it was kind of a very fond nuisance to me
Addictive, maybe? Or just bad?
Addictive, unless by bad you mean good, which would be the case. (Planet DC2 note: You understood what he was trying to say, if he hated or liked it after this comment? Me neither)
Okay, leaving the DC2 as a whole behind, let's center a bit more. What can you say about your role as the art director in the site?
Well as Art Director, what I do is make sure issues have covers which I fail miserably at often and a lot of it is just taking the pictures people do put up and then dress them. Now and then I will make a logo or something but Brandon (KillerSeaMonkey) handled most of that before he resigned. He was much better at it then me so it really is a good thing he did.
Well, also, you make part of the art for Gotterdamurung. What do you think of the title?
Well, actually, Charlie (House of Mystery) is the one that originally told me about it like oh... a year ago. He was telling me about some character ideas he had and I just starting mouthing off to him about how I would do some of them, and so he let me in on it with a very detailed outline that Dave (Idlewilder) and he had done. After looking at that I added a bunch of characters to it. Some made it in, some didn’t, and Dave and him let me in. After that I drew something like 100 character sketches for designs, and then Dave wrote it a couple months later after we worked it out more in a very secret thread. So I like to think I played a role in shaping it. Originally I was going to just do covers, but now I am doing more character drawings, areas and stuff and Craig (Cragcermark) is doing them, and they look fantastic. Much better and more epic than I could’ve possibly done, that's just how Craig is. All the look of it is pretty much me though
Wow, that's a lot. And besides that, you are part of the Powers Inc. team! How does that team worked? And if you can tell us, how was it made?
That's just an unfortunate disaster. First I thought it up with Charlie (House of Mystery again!) and wrote one issue by myself that was five pages of dialogue between two people, but I realized I was never going to be able to write it by myself. Charlie writes like an untrained puppy shits on rugs, so it was a good match. Chris was just around. He wanted to use Ted (Blue Beetle) and Booster Gold, and so did I, so he came onboard.
That's one great team. I love Powers Inc.
Haha... it is okay, now they write a lot of it and I go along trying to make them funny. That's how that works
Now, moving to yet another writing you do. Ion. We've seen Kyle and his origin. What will happen in his series? And well it will come out?
Working on it. No comment. Moving on.
Argh... Okay. Now, how do you manage to do all this stuff? Art director, part of two teams and writer of another project.
Don't forget overworked cover artist. I have this drink card for “Circle K” and for every six sodas I buy, I get one free, and I always go in with a 64 ounce cup. I've used up a bunch of those cards
Well, this is the end. Any final thoughts, comments, messages, recommendations?
Sure. I got a few…wait, no I lied. I got nothing. Buy Mennen. Never mind. That means less then I thought.
Well, thanks for your time Ramon. And I wish you luck in whatever you want to do.
Thanks for your time. This is going to go down as the worst interview ever.
Well, it isn't the worst interview ever. Right? Well, see you next week with more information/interviews of the site. You stay classy, DC2!
