Sometimes Netflix just surprises the heck out of you. I went to my mailbox this morning and it was in there! I didn't expect it to arrive on the day of release So I suddenly came down with a *cough* mild illness that would allow me to miss the first half of my workday. Best. DC. Animated. Feature. YET. And that's high praise considering the bang-up job they did on Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. BTW for you folks who are fans of Power Girl, Black Lightning, Captain Atom and Captain Marvel, you're gonna dig this. The sheer cast of characters they were able to cram in there was astounding (and I'm sure drove many animators to drink) I know some folks have complained about how the art style of each feature seems to change but I don't mind. I liked the choices they made here. I can't WAIT to see what they do with Crisis on Two Earths!

I liked the choices they made here. I can't WAIT to see what they do with Crisis on Two Earths! It was brilliant. Simply... amazing. It was divergent from the story in just the right amount of ways to make it one of the most enjoyable animated experiences I've ever hand, and the simple fact that Kevin Conroy was Batman made it better than some of the other efforts of any animation I've seen recently. I go on this really ridiculous rant whenever live-action/animated Batman comes up, because people always seem to assume that Christian Bale is the best Bruce Wayne/Batman, but I tell them no, they're wrong, or that they're late to the party. Adam West was this... Zeitgeist for the live-action show, capturing a feeling and being amazing at it. I know people take the mick out of his paunch now, about the leaps in logic made in every episode, but he was brilliant, and you can't deny that. Michael Keaton was fantastic, no two ways about it, surprising the heck out of everyone with his dramatic mastery of the role. Val Kilmer, I have to be honest, was a Bruce Wayne/Batman that I really, really enjoyed. I'm not even joking. He bridged the gap between Keaton and a new Batman perfectly, and then came... Clooney. Who worked well considering what he was given, and then the reboot came and you can all sing it's praises about how gruff Bale's voice became through his franchise, but-- Kevin Conroy is my Batman. He's the one that got me into comics, he's the one that got me into the films, he's the one that I rush to whenever I hear he's doing a Batman project. The only reason I saw The Dark Knight was because it was playing at the little indie theatre (RIP, Phoenix Arts) way after it's original run. I just wasn't that bothered. But anything Conroy? I'm there. Oh, and, umm, Tim Daly and Clancy Brown were brilliant too. And I agree with this interview-- it really was Brown's show, wasn't it? And a fantastic one at that.

Yeah, it looks really good. I haven't seen it yet but can't wait. Christian Bale's Batman voice is too much. It's crazy over the top.

Excellent. My favorite animation release by Timm and co. so far post-DCAU. I've watched and enjoyed most of them but this is the first one to really grab me. The story was tightened up in all the right places and the action sequences were awesome. Very cool and exciting stuff. My only regret is not getting to see a little more of the Superman/Batman Robo! Maybe they'll do a sequel where we get to see what was in that meteor. I love Ed McG's stuff and since it already has a heavy animation quality to it, it adapted really well in this. I was really into his DC stuff at the time and it was a big influence on the early covers I did right here at DC2.
