What music do you like to listen to when you're reading/writing DC2 issues?
Are there any songs/bands/genres you think fit a certain character or series perfectly?
Looking for inspirational music.

Oooh, I stick to a very small stock of bands when I write (though maybe that's part of the problem). Nine Inch Nails are a staple of my writing chores, and Skinny Puppy are inching their way in too. Queens of the Stone Age are back in there, and Desert Sessions are part and parcel of that area too. If I need emotion, no-one does that better than Zero 7, and through that, Sia. If I want something a bit heavier, Pearl Jam (Black does that to perfection). If I really need to concentrate, Akira Yamaoka's Silent Hill scores, or Nine Inch Nail's Ghosts. Instrumental to perfection.
So if you apply that to the range I write, Detective Comics, Wonder Woman, The Question and on occasion Doctor Occult, and I'm sure others, you can get an idea of what makes me tick. Ha.

I listen to a broad range of music while I'm writing, both for inspiration and to just set me in the mood. Country, rock, pop...
You might try Nickel Creek or Relient K (like 'Deathbed').

When I'm writing I usually listen to my soundtracks. I've got 51 different one's in my stereo at the moment.
A lot of ideas pop in my head while I'm flicking through the radio stations and come upon a song. Billy Joel and U2 have both been insperations for a couple of ways I've approached NO stories.

This is a good question, though I never listen to music when I read. My brain isn't wired that way. As for what I listen to when writing, it varies. These days I may only get to write a few sentences before I have to go tickle a Belle. Other times when I can get away I do have a few standards depending on the book. Currently I am listening to Metallica, Death Magnetic while writing Checkmate. Other times its been Collective Soul or Dave Matthews Band. Avenged Seven Fold, City of Evil while writing Global Guardians or Foo Fighters, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. While writing For Earth, it is usually (especially the first issue) it has been a lot of Dire Straits, Talking Heads, and U2. Most other times I just have a mixed play list I can flip through when a mood hits. I am sure none that really makes sense to anyone else but me, so I am not sure if it will help you at all. When it comes to inspirational music, only you know what works and what doesn't. But it does make for a fun discussion none the less.

When I'm writing something, I listen to three different bands at once (Ipod, stereo, and computer all playing at once) and usually have the TV on at the same time. The music is rarely even remotely similar to whatever else I have playing at the time, I could have The Beatles, Cradle of Filth, and Coltrane all playing with Cowboy Bebop on TV. ...I'm weird aren't I?

U2 fan unite, baby! lol.... without Bono and Jon Foreman, I never would've begane questioning life and living it to the fullest.... even took up guitar and songwriting after that..... and, if that had never happened, I wouldn't have made the jump to writing fanfiction either.... don't get me wrong though ,music is still my first love, writing stories has become a close second......... as for what I listen to while I'm writing........ it really depends on the character itself...... when I'm writing Nightwing, SWITCHFOOT is my first choice, Batman, anything from U2 to James Taylor.... Batman Beyond, I stick with more of the heavier songs from all of my favorite bands...... wow that was long, I'd better end this now before I take up more space ahhhhhhhh!!!! -Cam-

Lately, I've been listening to Alexandre Désilets. I went to his recital and really liked what I heard.

the most awesome thing happened yesterday...... I got to a fight scene, for a future issue of Robin:Betrayal and found myself looking for something to pump me and put me in the "epic" mood.... had to find something.... my favorite bands couldn't help me this time, I needed something.... asian!.... sounds weird, I know ,but that's what I needed..... while searching youtube for different hardcore techno songs and stuff I came across some gems..... to me they make awesome fight music..... one of them, I'd heard a million times before (and loved) but never thought of listening to it while I was writing......anyways, I thought I'd share these links with you guys, should you ever be stuck like I was and need some inspiration.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGBx0-LoNbMwww.youtube.com/watch?v=dI6PECZDwo8enjoy, guys! -Cam-
