Jason Vorhees
Michael Meyers
Leather Face
Jason and Meyers have the sneakiness and borderline super strength thing going on for 'em. But Leather Face has the whole I'm gonna hack ya up with a chainsaw thing going on. Now, the question is, who's the best?

Vorhees.
Undead. Unstoppable.
Though Myers is freakin' slick, and the first time I saw the original Hallowe'en, it blew my mind how scary it was... And that was just the scenes in the daytime with Laurie walking home and being followed. Bravo, director man, bravo.

I don't like any of them. I nfact, I find the whole "slasher" genre a bit tedious now, though I give a nod to these guys for being the figureheads of it.
All I could say is they all seem the same to me, besides Freddy Krueger.
If I had to vote, I'd do a write-in slot:
Jigsaw.
The serial killer of Saw was, to me, one of the coolest serial killers I've seen in a movie, and by far the only one I cared for.

Well, the problem with all those serial killers is that they look too much like serial killers, so I'll go all Golden Age and opt for those two little old ladies in "Arsenic and Old Lace", although Monsieur Verdoux comes a close second.

Freddy Krueger is my favorite. But I think the question should be "Best supernatural serial killer". Cause Hannibal Lector takes the cake(what kind I'm not sure) for non slasher serial killers.

Hannibal Lector does indeed stand above the rest...didn't think of him. I still love Jigsaw...that psychological aspect was thrilling to me, much more than countless, unimportant, unimaginative and repeatable teenage deaths.

Angela in Camp Sleepaway always gave me the creeps.
Michael of the big three to me is the coolest with Freddy second, and Jason third. If I counted Leatherface too, he'd be smudged between Freddy and Jason just because the cool mask. Michael I say just because he looks the coolest of them, he has that blank face of a very pale William Shatner and the awesome blue jumpsuit. The one scene in I think Revenge where he starts to bleed from his eyes is one of the all time most badass moments of his. However that said, the last one where he got karate kicked by Bustah Rhymes made me feel very, very angry thoughts. Shame on whoever was responsible for that atrocious movie.
Although those slashers are cheesy, they have a certain style to them that I think is far superior to modern horror movies which are just finding out how squeamish you can make he viewer by showing tons of gore. Psycho didn't even show the knife touch her and it was way more intense then all the saws and hostiles and all those pieces of garbage combined.

Personally, I'm not a slasher fan.
A) I got no stomach for them, and
B) When I think of slasher flicks, I think of the slasher being an unstoppable juggernaut that just kills for no reason. It's boring.

Rented Rob Zombies remake of Halloween the other night. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I recommend it.

I agree, certain movies of the horror genre need a certain style that you can enjoy. I couldn't stand the hostel movies, and I found the first three Saw movies kind of boring. I haven't gotten around to watching the last one yet, and I'm in no rush to see it. Definitely plan on watching Rob Zombies Halloween, so long as it's better then the last one that came out (I agree with the angry thoughts ) I'll be happy.

Zombie's Halloween was a good movie but it shouldn't be confused with a traditional horror movie, it was more along the lines of what he did in Devil's Rejects if you liked that kind of thing.
