I don't know about you guys (and girls) but I'm a big fan of Robert E. Howard and love the Conan/Red Sonja universe (when done well, and yeah I know that Howard's character was Sonya but close enough!) and am pretty excited at this news: USA Today reports that the Red Sonja movie has taken a leap forward – Robert Rodriguez is now attached to produce, with Rose McGowan starring as the red-haired warrior. The film, to be directed by Rodriguez associate Douglas Aarniokoski is slated for a 2010 release. Sounds like it could work to me. If we can't get Conan then by gosh bring on Red Sonja. Now hopefully they get someone to do the script who gets Howard's work beyond the clichéd sword and sorcery formula we normally get.

That's terrific news! The Brigitte Nielsen movie in the 80s was an abomination...
But what happened to the King Conan flick John Millius was writing? Did that go south...?

Yeah, that 80s one doesn't even count in my opinion. The title 'King Conan' doesn't even register at IMDB so I'm guessing it's not in any active stage of production. I guess the Governator is too busy running a state or something. Pfeh. But it wouldn't work without him so I guess until he really needs the cash we won't see it.

I did a little googling on that picture and came up with this as the final update on the project I could find. Looks like the Millius project died because they couldn't pull in Arnold. It was last reported to have jumped to Rodriguez but I guess he couldn't make it happen either so he went with Sonja instead. Here is a rundown on the Milius script though if you are interested.

I think if there were to be another Conan movie, one person comes to mind for the title roll. The WWE wrestler Triple H. I remember two years ago, at Wrestlemania 22, he wore an outfit that reminded me of Conan as a King. He sat a throne and he looked freakin' awesome

I know a lot of people run around wanting Triple H to be considered for Thor as well. Gotta say, he looks amazing for parts like that physically, but can he act in the slightest? I doubt it. On the other hand, if he could...ooo, the possibilities! LOL
As for Red Sonja, that would be great, and Rodriguez is a good choice, but Rose McGowan? I love her, she's a fun actress, but she strikes me as physically incorrect. Granted, if she really buffed up and the like, maybe. For now, that part of the equation looks like a vanity exercise that would make me nervous.
All that said, I'd be there to watch! Love all that Conan and extended Conan material.
Take care Don

Just found this and it appears to be authentic. No idea who it is and no details are given.
