Oh... God. This has really hit me hard. Mike Turner was the guy that got me into comics. Witchblade, Fathom... Lord. This is terrible news. CBR article. And I know that some of you didn't like his art style but he was dedicated, and he always delivered, even when living with his cancer. Shit, I mean, he was doing covers when he'd just come out of surgery for his spine! He was a machine... Damn.

I never cared much for his art style at all. On the other hand, as Charlie pointed out, he was professional: his stuff was always in on time, he never caused delays, and I'd only heard good words about him from colleagues and fans.
Definitely a loss to the comics community.
Take care Don

Oh, jeez, this sucks...
I was a fan since his Identity Crisis covers; in fact, that was the comic that got be back into comics after a 15 year break, so one might say that Michael Turner had a hand in the genesis of this site.
I know he fought his disease for a long time; may he rest in peace now.

That's just terrible to hear. I wasn't really aware that he'd been so sick - it's sad to see anyone struck down in their prime. He may have been controversial but his work had an impact and was always eye-catching. My thoughts go out to his friends and loved ones.

Ummm... no. Sucks that he died but I'm not going to pretend I liked his work which I actually hated a lot.

Yeah, I wasn't particularly fond of it (I think I kind of grew out of it), but it got me into comics, and I respect him for that. Plus, by all accounts he was a genuinely nice guy, and you don't get enough of those.

I was a fan of his. I remember reading Witchblade a few issues in and not knowing who Michael Turner was. But he drew women beautifully. Tomb Raider made flesh in comics was because of his artwork. I remember seeing those Flash and God Fall covers, then those emotionally charged covers of Identity Crisis. When I show this post early this morning, I was stunned and lost at the same time. Not really knowing what to say. But he did have talent, regardless if we liked it or not, his work sold and sold well. He was a professional, even when he was fighting cancer. ...I don't know... Rest in peace, Michael Turner.

Wow, so should we start a new thread for celebrity deaths? Seems to be a lot lately.

This is a terrible loss for the comics community.
I enjoyed his work on Witchblade tremendously and the various projects he did at DC.
I wasn't aware that there was such a love/hate debate over his style but there's no question he was a talented man and by all accounts, a genuinely nice guy.
Maybe this has hit me harder then it should for someone I only knew through his short body of work, but he was only a few months younger then me.
Damn he fought so hard to beat that disease. May he finally rest in peace.
