If you had to name just one album that EVERYONE has to have, be it by The Shadows or Shakira, just name one, and we'll compile a list of "The Greatest Albums You Have To Own"...

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.
Which I think, according to record charts, just about everyone owns. The damn things been in the top 200 sales chart since it's release in 1973 (although I did hear that it took a few months off in the '90's). It is a brilliant, beautiful album.

Take your pick of the following Beatles albums: Revolver, Sgt Peppers, The Beatles or Abbey Road. All of them stand on their own as masterpieces.

But I asked for one... My one? Hmm... Something new and thoroughly quality, something I think you should own, but I know you old fashioned "Beetles this, Beetles that" won't appreciate... Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf. Some storming riffs in there, and every song is a masterpiece. Let the shooting down of my favourite album commence-- Now!

Oh and Scott, yeah, Dark Side is the greatest Prog Rock/Classic Rock album out there. Period.

Scott took my first response as well. My second pick would be Queen's Greatest Hits Part 1 & 2. The greatest songs by one of the greatest arena rock groups of all time.

Good pull Starlord & David!
Queen, The Beatles, Pink Floyd... can we all be stranded on the same island with a really nice sound system?

Jurassic 5 - Quality Control. I looked through my music and this is the CD that is perfect regardless of what mood I'm in, and everyone I know (that likes hip hop) likes it. Even some people who don't listen to a lot of hip hop like it.

Maybe I should check it out... I personally can't stand hip hop (unless we're talking Eminem or the Beastie Boys). If it could convert me then it truly could be something great!

Radiohead - OK ComputerI like it a lot. The modern prog rock/experimental sound masters turn in an album that is flawless and strokes your beta brain in all the right places, and I couldn't imagine going through life without hearing it a least a few more times.

Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness. From beginning to end, lyrically and instrumentally it's takes you for an emotional ride.

Like the Radiohead pick a lot. I decided to go for Yoshimi Battles the Giant Pink Robots by the Flaming Lips.
Brilliant, mesmerising album I can listen to in almost any mood.

There are some great picks here.
I'll think I'll change it up and pick a punk rock cd. Here it is:
Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols
I know a lot of people have a pretty strong opinions on punk (usually it's love it or hate it), but I got a few of my friends who hate punk to buy this cd, and I think that says a lot.

That's a good one! The video for "Tonight, Tonight" is maybe my all-time favorite. I heard that Darcy has the background set on her farm somewhere. I would love to hang out on it.

just one? That's pretty hard man. I'd have to say Black Sabbath's Paranoid has to be up there though.
I was gonna say Garth Brooks-Double Live, but I'm not sure if live albums or double albums count. I was also thinking Lou Reed-Metal Machine Music...but I'm one of a select few that can actually handle it,or really any other noise album. That kind of music is normally too harsh for most people,or too high brow for them

Live Shit:Binge and Purge is even better. It's like 7 hours(three live cds and 2 amazing live videos/dvds) of Metallica, before becoming a good-but-not-great hard rock band.

That is really hard but I'm gonna have to go with my first thought...
The Killers' Debut album. I can listen to every song over and over and find something new every time.
