Barry had a cult following after he died. No one was up in arms when Wally disappeared and Bart beame Flash but then poor writing lead to them killing Bart.
Hal went through two Flashes. I thought of Flash as Green Lantern's sidekick.LOL
Interest point made by Ramon.

I've had a hard time with this question, because I don't really follow either of them that closely.. but I think back to the Silver Age to compare these two because that's really many of older citizens who remember Hal Jordan and Barry Allen... the fact that both of those guys would give their lives up no matter the cause to save people or freedom..
Makes it really difficult... but I went with GL.

Who made the ultimate sacrafice, and who went insane and attempted to destroy creation?
Uh... I meant, who made the sacrafice, and who was possessed by a big mother fumbling yellow space bug?

I'm not sure which I lean toward. They're both so cool on such different levels. The idea of a magic wishing ring is kicking, but superhuman speed would be so great to have, so very useful. As for characters, Barry and Hal were both rather dull for a long period of time, which hurt them, but I like the concepts behind them. Wally and Kyle were interesting characters too, as are the various others in those mantles.
But for me, I'm a golden age lover ,and Jay and Alan are my versions that I love more than the others, and choosing between them? I lean toward Jay, but seriously, I think, once more, the Flash will have to enter a race where the result is a tie. lol
Take care Don

Barry had a cult following after he died. No one was up in arms when Wally disappeared and Bart beame Flash but then poor writing lead to them killing Bart. Hal went through two Flashes. I thought of Flash as Green Lantern's sidekick.LOL Interest point made by Ramon. First, Wally's only been gone for a few months, AND he didn't die. Wally has a cult following who try to get the hardcore Barry fans to except him and they defend him. Plus, we all had a feeling he was coming back anyway. I think its safe to assume that Wally fans didn't have to worry as much about Wally returning being that he was "in another dimension" rather being dead (though Barry's death is, to me, one of the truest comic book deaths out there). Bart on the other hand...I don't know...I read the pages and said "Damn" and then put the comic down. I feel bad for him, wish they didn't kill him, but I'm glad to have Wally back. Second, on the sidekick thing Hal kinda didn't go through two Flashes per se, being that he has been on a long a$$ trip to Purgatory and has just returned at what we thought was the end of Wally's career and the beginning of Bart's. If we want to be real here, Barry and Wally went through a few GL's since there has been Hal, his replacements Jon and Guy, and then Kyle, and then even Jade for a little while. Let's take a recap of the GL history: Hal is gone, and Jon comes in. Jon blows up planet, Hal comes back (i think that's how it went), Guy replaces Hal, Hal comes back, Hal goes crazy/infested (however you want to look at it), Kyle comes in, Kyle "has to leave" for a while, Jade comes in, Kyle returns, Jon returns, Guy and Hal return, and Hal kinda replaces everyone since he is center man. On the flipside for the Flashes, Barry comes in, Barry dies, Wally comes in, Wally has extra help in Jay Garrick, Johnny Quick, Jesse Quick, Max Mercury, and Impulse, and Wally names his successor in Jesse, continues as Flash for a long time (temporarily replaced by a Wally of another dimension for like a few months) and then is replaced by Bart, who dies, and then he returns. I think Barry and Wally did a better job of staying stable then the GLs. So if they were the sidekicks, they were doing pretty good to outlive their counterparts. Me, I always saw the Flashes and GLs in the "two clans" thing. Instead of being two feuding clans, they were like two clans that always get along in some sort of brotherhood. Generally, it seems if you're a Flash and someone else is a GL, you get along pretty well. Alan and Jay, Hal and Barry, Wally and Kyle (i'm not counting the replacement people). They both have a wide range of abilities and compliment each other well, and between the two make a powerful duo. And their abilities are different in a way that it's not like they complete each other. Like when you see comic book teams and one flies, one has super strength, and one has magic, and so they all kinda make one colossal hero. They both just have amazing powers which just make them even more effective than other comic duos because only their own powers have so much possibilities that together they have exponentially even more possibilities in how they use their abilities. So uh...yeah...that's my thoughts.

There were a lot of fans up in arms about Wally, me included! But like crow said, there was always a feeling that he was going to return eventually. Great thoughts crow.

Exalt for your well thought out post. I never took Stewart or Jade seriously as a GL.
That is my half cent worth of my thought.

Thank you fellas. I haven't got a chance to read that "All-New Flash" or whatever it's called...I hear Waid is back on. I liked Waid with Wally.
Speaking of the Flashes and GLs, has anyone read those specific comics/tpbs "Brave & the Bold" and "Flash/GL: Faster Friends"? Not bad with showing the relationships between the two.

I've never read Brave & the Bold. Is that Barry and Hal? Faster Friends was a good read, I miss that Kyle/Wally relationship. Connor and Kyle too while we're on the subject.

Yeah there was this mini series called Brave & the Bold, based on Barry/Flash and Hal/Green Lantern, with silver age kind of stories. Fun read. This is not the same as the long running series where Batman teamed up with various heroes...

This is not the same as the long running series where Batman teamed up with various heroes... Yeah, it was written by Mark Waid if I remember correctly. My favorite part was when Ollie was around, he was written so awesomely! Oh, and when Wally becomes Kid Lantern to fight the Black Hand who was only talking in cliches

Think I'd have to go with GL too simply because I like the big space other planet kinda stories typically associated with the GL's. Plus one of my favorite teamup's was DC presents Superman and GL..Jim Starlin art. It was awesome! sorry is my geek showing

Flash- the Fastest Men Alive!
I love Sinestro Corps War, and I love Johns' GL. But his Flash was even better. And the Flashes have always been much more interesting to me, Hell even back in the day Barry's sole personality trait may have been "always late" but that was one more personality trait than Hal had!
