I'm all for the strike. That being said I REALLY hope it is over before it starts to effect anything I watch. Mainly the Office and Heroes.

I support the writers being on strike. Those writers that are actors too like Tina Fey, got to do endorsement deals to support themselves and their staff. Good luck to them...and I hope it does not last as long as the '88 Writers Guild Strike. That one lasted five months.
The writers deserve the $224 millions from a business that makes annually approximately something like $3.5 billions.
I'll hate when the new episodes stop due to the strike but I guess it'll give me a chance to writer and draw more or watch the reruns to catch up with the previous seasons.

Good luck to them...and I hope it does not last as long as the '88 Writers Guild Strike. That one lasted five months At first I supported the writers but now I am having second thoughts. This strike will more then likely last as long as the last one unless the writers cave sooner. Writers make some decent money if they are in the WGA and I'd wager if you knew how much they made to turning out crap you might not be so supportive (I say this as a general statement). Of course some of my change of heart is due to all of the other workers that are out of work like the hundreds of people behind the scenes of the various TV shows that have halted. Are the writers thinking of them or their family's? Or does their 30k a script paychecks make them blind to the 30k a year workers? I think those numbers are grossly exaggerated sir! The television industry is leaking money like the Titanic as the band played on! The fear is that there will never be the money that their use to be. A lot of that has to do with the internet. In fact, the current stalemate between writers and studios is based in part on their shared nervousness about the toll new media is taking on their traditional sources of income. The Internet has lured away younger viewers and advertisers from television while threatening to make movie studios more vulnerable to piracy and to gut their lucrative DVD business, which has recently peaked. The writers and the producers are in the same boat. Writers want to know what their percentage of residuals should be, but they don’t know what the total market size is or the profitability of that market. And the producers are in the exact same position. If you support the writers then send them a few dollars if you've ever downloaded their work off the INTERNET or own a copied DVD you haven't paid for. I agree with this! Hopefully the writers will take the time to come up with better scripts since IMHO 95% of whats on TV is crap! All of this is my opinion so I could be wrong. I support writers in general. Not all big corporations are evil. And as long as money is more important then quality then 95% of everything on TV will remain crap!

Well I remember reading in the local paper that the amount that the writers were asking for totaled to about $224 millions. But with box office sales dropping, the companies are making up for the lost revenue with DVD sales. According to an article in the New York Times Click Here reported that companies made $4.8 billions in home video sales versus $1.78 billions at the box office. According to the old percent from VHS sales of .3 percent for the first million sales and .36 percent after, is what the studios want to keep. So more money in their pocket. So who is getting screwed there? It happened in comics, when creators were not given any residuals for their work. To me this is how I see it. It's like saying that online comics should not count into some sort of sales equation. You got your direct market sales, you got your newstand sales and those all count for something. And John, your opinion is never wrong.(Only Charlie's are wrong ) Mischief

Personally, me and the Dragon have been enjoying this season of Law&Order: SVU and Criminal Intent. And like Triple H said on RAW once, "The writers are on strike, but we're not." So I'll just enjoy me some choreographed Sports-Entertainment and toss me back cold one. Mischief
