Anyone go?
I was there and had the opportunity to meet an idol, a hero, a bounty hunter, a few has-beens and hang out with some cool folks.
Me & my idol Bruce Timm (and isn't it cute the way we look like our heads are together? Everyone say 'aaawwwww...')
My wife with Superman
Me & Jango Fett
Me with an Emergency Medical Hologram
The stack of comics awaiting Geoff John's signature was huge...
My lady was tired of carrying them for me...
Clone Commander Cody
Princess Leia
Me and Zarak from Battlestar Galactica... OK, so maybe he was old cheesy Apollo too... but he's gotten over that since he's in the new show! He's actually a really nice guy.
All in all it was a good time, although a little odd. I think the heat was getting to everyone. When it reaches the 100's in San Diego, you know there's a problem. Otherwise, lots of cool stuff... Kevin Smith was as funny as ever. McFarlane had his nice little argument. Toys were purchased a lot of really cool DC Direct stuff is coming soon, in fact they unveiled a new set on Saturday that included: Blue Beetle (new version), Firestorm (new version) plus a few others I can't remember at this moment.
I also got to meet George Perez who is one of the nicest guys in the business! Greg Rucka is a hoot. Mark Waid loves to talk and Geoff John's, though cordial, was not his normal chipper self. My wife said he had this glazed/exhausted look in his eyes. I guess that's what happens when you write 1/3 of DC's books and have geeks like me make you sign them all...
Bruce Timm & Darwyn Cooke are working on New Frontier as a direct to DVD feature. Bruce is also working on the Death of Superman/Superman vs. Doomsday as well as Teens Titans Judas Contract (that one threw me because it's already kinda been done and the Titans aren't part of the Timmiverse, but Hell, I'll take it!).
Ghostrider looks... er... not as bad as I thought, but still not good.
Spider-Man 3 looks amazing...
Ummm... that's all I can think of right now.
Goodnight!
