I see that point. But it wasn't a rookie thing as in GL protocols, it was Kyle being a rookie hero. Every minute someone was coincidentally mentioning or joking how Kyle's a "newbie", and in the GL series they kept throwing in his fears. I understand it was to better contrast him to the usual GLs, and they did a pretty good job with Kyle in Rebirth, but Kyle has battled his fear many times already...
I feel like even if Batman became a cop he'd get respect and acknowledgement as a detective. Kyle got the cool "torchbearer" title but no one can say i'm lying that Hal was given the best treatment of the GLs since his return.
Best example: John? What the heck does John do anymore, really? Since JLU finished, so has he. Everytime I see a GL on Earth, it's 99% Hal. He's been in random cameos all over the DCU, everywhere from 52 to IC, Shadowpact to JLA, two issues of the Brave and the Bold series, and more...The only person to really be doing good other than Hal is Guy.
But that's just my opinion.

well kyle does have fears and that's what makes him unique. unlike the others he wasnt chosen because he was fearless or because he possessed qualities that are what are ideal to make a member of the corps, he got picked because no one else was around... well that homeless guy was around but yeah... he's not supposed to outgrow his fears because that fear is what makes him such a good gl, he recongized it and worked around that destroying the yellow impurity in rebirth.

Yeah John really got shafted post Rebirth. At one point during the end of Kyle's GL, John was the only Earth GL, he was one of the major characters in JL and JLU, and he was the JLA's GL for years. Now, though he's been described by Geoff Johns as Hal's partner who would be playing a major part in the current GL storyline, he just ended up getting a couple pages. I think John should be in the JLA. He's more of a team player, and it would make the spotlight on each Earth GL pretty much equal.

Totally agree timdrake. Hal doesn't need anymore screen time than he has, he's doing fine. Guy pretty much is the star of GL Corps. John in the JLA would be cool because he's done fine there. Kyle will appear somewhere doing something (hopefully better than this past year). Everything would be equal. But as of right now, Hal doesn't have a "partner", he has a "auxillary" GL, or a "rent-a-GL", who only appears to say hi like some sitcom neighbor.

You know what? Screw Hal, Kyle and all the rest of them. I'm going for the little useless asian kid from Batman Beyond! Take that Lantern Lad! That was just rude. Oh yeah? Well, try this one: The first Crow was the only Crow anything worth reading/watching! The rest just clung to the firsts coat tails like smeared dog crap on the bottom of a shoe!  And though I put a winky-faced thing there to show you this was just in jest, it is also absolutely true. Take that Crow! P.S. I likes that little useless Asian kid... his constructs were far more imaginative than John (let me just shoot an energy beam at it) Stewart. |
