I was thinking the other day about how comics are written...and though they are made in fictional universes, where anything can happen, sometimes things are just a bit too....far-fetched.
Which ones do you think really go beyond comprehension?
I forgot mine, so i'll add mine later.

Crossovers from DC from... 2001-2005?
Umm to be precise... Our Worlds At War to... before Identity Crisis.
It was a massive stretch, you know? Trying in vain to satisfactorly tie all these books together into some kind of cohesive story arc?
(Edited for bad grammar)

Morrison did some of the weirdest stories ever. From Wonderworld to synchonisity and beyond lol
And speaking of useless crossovers, anyone remember Emperor Joker? Nuff said.
Any particular stories that really made no sense? When I made this thread, I had a story I really had in mind....but for the life of me, I can't remember it.
Also, I just wanted to mention: I don't know if anyone else read the last Wizard magazine with the Green Arrow article...but his trick arrows were as bad as Adam West-Batman's utility belt. A black cat arrow to spread bad luck? The jujitsu arrow which conveniently handcuffs the ankles of villains who are dumb enough to stand still. The fountain pen arrow which attaches to the back of a car and draws a line on the road for GA to follow? And best of all, Red Dart has a rain dart (oh my god, it's rain!) which he thinks will stop GA and Speedy, and GA coincidentally has an umbrella arrow.
Huh-wha?

Spider-Man: Reign...?
"My spider-semen... Spider-killed her!"
I'm paraphrasing, youknow.

They had to think of a new way to kill MJ. I would of said she died because of the lack of it. Mischief

Before 52, DC had another weekly "mega crossover event" called Millennium.
It took 8 weeks to introduce the world's crappiest superhero team. I stopped reading DC books for almost 15 years because of Millennium.

Was that the thing with the Millennium Giants and around the time Superman (electric) had split into red and blue? Cuz I didn't read much of it, but I was confused as hell.

Nope, this was a few years before the Death of Superman. This was the event that followed Legends. Back when Perez still wrote Wonder Woman and Byrne wrote Superman. The Millennium mini eventually lead to this shipwreck:

Millennium itself was a really badly coordinated mini. You couldn't follow events from Millennium #1 into Millennium #2, you had to pick up a plethora of other books.
I bought the mini on ebay last year.
Total waste of time.

Wonder Woman: Heinberg's plot.. and delays.. and well plot being dropped because he couldn't keep a schedule.. was just hard. I like what Jodi Picoult is trying to do.. but the fact that Gail Simone is on board as of Issue 13...

The Hitman DC One Million story. It's still a good story because it was meant to be ridiculous... I hope it was meant to be ridiculous anyway...

Wonder Woman is being written by Gail Simone?
Awesomeness.
One more bad plot: Gwen Stacy having two kids by Norman Osbourne. I heard J. Michael Stracynski had to make that crackpot story because he was made to switch something he wanted to do, but still, what the hell!

Sure it was a few posts ago, but... wait... spider semen kills!? i gotta read that! Reminds me of some altered lyrics I once heard for the Spider-Man theme: "Is he strong? Watch out, bud. He's got radioactive pud." ;D Hmm, bad plots..."City of Crime" in 'Tec last year, right before OYL. Absolutely pointless! A whole year wasted! The only good thing about it was they interrupted it for a couple issues near the end for a "War Games" wrap-up story...which I also have a bit of a quibble with, but it was still better than "City of Crime." Thank God we have Grant's wonderful fic of the same name around to redeem that particular title. Also, while I haven't read a lot of JLA stories from the late 70s/early 80s, the ones I have read seem to be lacking in cohesive storylines. They start out with a decent premise, then kind of meander on to an end that makes little sense. Did nobody give a damn about good writing back then?

I actually enjoyed City of Crime! Thought it was pretty good, and very strong for the Detective title at that time, considering the crap they'd been releasing after Loeb left!

They start out with a decent premise, then kind of meander on to an end that makes little sense. Did nobody give a damn about good writing back then? I don't think so... it was almost like they were trying to mirror the Super-Friends in cheesiness. It wasn't until the JLI years that I actually started picking the title up regularly. Since we're talking about unbelieveable plotlines, I'm going to have to say: Probably everything ever written that wasn't either a true crime or war book. I still contend that though the costumes were outrageous at times and some of the storylines were convoluted, as far as realism goes, the old Larry Hama GI Joe series were some of the best quasi-reality based comics out there. And the new series ain't half bad either. Take out a DNA spliced madman for an evil emperor, the occasional android soldier and the awful crap that was Cobra-La and you've got yourself a great story where they weren't afraid to kill off major characters (I mean they had to make room on the toy shelves somehow) and nuking Cobra Island! I remember one issue alone where a character named Saw-Viper took an M-60 and blew away about 12 Joe's execution style... poor Doc got 5 rounds in the face. I was about 11 or 12 when it came out and it traumatized the Hell out of me! That was realism! But anytime Superman or Green Lantern flies, though I wish it were possible, it is unbelieveable.

Oh. My. God. CLOWNS!!! *cowers* I'll get back to ya on this. In the meantime, I thought of ridiculous stories that I actually didn't like. Liebermans "big finish" of Gotham Knights. Total waste of time. And, The Long Halloween. I don't see what all the hype of this story is, it really wasn't that good.
