DUDE! Do not diss the lameness of 70s/80s Marvels costume designers. Sure the stuff was lame but...well this isn't gonna go anywhere. Seriously... I dont mind the hat drawn in modern style. Recent dipictions dont look bad but it reminds me too much of how things were in JLA:Year One and Im not a fan of the art and so I think the hood wins. Its just so Bad A$$

legacy, you are in way over your head, when a grown man runs around in tights with a forked goatee, a hat is necessary, it completes the ensemble. you know how much skill it takes to run around with that without the feather falling out? a lot. about as much as it takes to nock over 30 arrows a minute. trust me dog, had ollie been wearing a hat, he never would have died to begin with understand? he would be chillin somewhere in tibet with two honeys and a glass of wine. and that is a fact.

It's all subjective. The Hood is when theres a darker, grittier type of GA, and the Hat is when he's more Robin Hood than killing people...

I like gritty comics. Not generally but I prefer realism. For example Ultimates of Avengers...or at least classical Avengers vs. Kang or whatever. I like costumes that people would actually wear.

The laws of physics are different in a superhero universe, like the fact that they can fly and whatnot, so the laws of fashion physics are different too. Besides, athletes wear colorful skintight clothes. So do stage performers. "Professional" Wrestlers. Circus folk. And so on. Some of these people are gay and many are not. Zippers, rubber, buckles, pockets, leather, etc. are things you may see on "modern" superhero, and also things you may see in an S&M leather bar where all manner of sexually curious things may be considered or discussed. It's all relative and has very little to do with realism in comics. A comic story need only to be realistic enough to carry your suspension of disbelief. The second a character flies or shoots a beam from his eyes you are asking a lot from your reader to buy into but only really need to have a good story to make it worth their time. If zippers and seams on clothing makes it easier for some then, again, that's a matter of aesthetic preference and little bearing on actual reality. Besides, the hat's cooler, no matter what you Ultimates leather freaks think.  |

Well I knew Superman couldn't pull off a goatee. Kilowog... maybe, but definitely not Supes. And I kinda wanted to see him with a hat, it doesn't happen very often. ok ok. Probably been done but wouldn't it be fun to have the JLA do a costume party and they all go as either each other or the all show up dressed as batman, something happens that they have to hand;e before they can change.....  TADA! While this is hillarious it proves nothing. Why not argue which Batgirl costume is better by showing what Amanda Waller would look like in the purple one. ;D |

Ultimates me like but my point was not about fashion. I no nothing and do not care either way I was mearly trying to say why I like the hood in a made up way that would hopfully make sense and it failed and thus I look crazier than ever.....................................hood....................the hat is ok too though
