Oooo! Good poll (and a timely one!)!
For me it's the hat. It's evocative of the whole Robin Hood connection, and besides, the hood just "darkens" up the character.
Of course, there are people that might see a feathered cap as a bit silly... I guess it depends on the school of comic fandom you come from!

Now you know my stance and its not because I am old school because I am not claiming to be such by any means. What sets Ollie apart from his contemporaries is something that all them lack. Batman lacks it, Superman lacks it, Ambush Bug lacks it. And that "it", that unnatainable entity that they all wish they could possess, is the ability to wear such a badass hat. Think about it. How foolish would Batman look with the hat? Or Superman? Nay, only Ollie and Ollie alone can pull off wearing a had that went out of style in the dark ages. But when they take that away, and give him a hood, it degrades him. Anyone can pull a hood on and call themselves edgy, its not hard. Raven (yes a girl) does it. Ragman (yes a loser) does it. Hell, even the pied piper, (yes a flute player) does it! My point is, that the hat and feather set him apart from all the rest while the hood makes him look somewhat goofy. they might as well take away his turtle neck... no that would be pushing it... what? they did? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Can you imagine Superman or Batman trying to pull off that beard and mustache combo? Only Ollie can! |

Oh, the hat, of course. And honestly, I couldn't put it any better then Ramon did. Bruce, Clark, Barry, Hal, they all have their symbols. Ollie, he's got the hat.  |

I laughed when I first saw this thing but when I thought about it I was like: "Hey, which one does look better?! So I said hat.
Here's my logic: The hood is a little darker, Ollie isn't generally. He faces some dark issues but he himself is generally filled with heart and not so dark. Also, Hat is a little more Robin Hood. And the last and best reason, when he gets in a really tough fight it can come off and that's when he looks really cool and battle-ridden. I mean Shoe's sig proves that!

Gotta say... The hood. It just works for me... The hat is cool and all, but I liked cloak-hooded characters & there's not many of them in the DCU that I can think of at the moment... With Ollie it works.
