In case I hadn't told you, I got drunk once with Geoff Johns. Here's a picture pre-drinking during the convention, a picture taken by Dave Gibbons! He's actually the most down to earth guy ever. He spent the whole evening chatting and drinking with us (til 4am when the last of us slinked off home and he went to drink with some Irish friends he'd met the night before) and it was ace. This is why I recommend conventions to everyone. Come to Birmingham in December UK residents!

Wow. I guess you really do look like your avatar lol
Back to the point, that's awesome that you guys hung out and chatted. One might think that his sucess would make him act superior, but to see someone still down to earth is amazing.

That sounds like a cool experience. It's good to hear that he's as nice in person as he seems in interviews and at panels. I would love to have a conversation with that guy.
I'd like to go to a convention sometime, most likely WW Chicago since it's close to Wisconsin, but none of my friends are into comics and I don't really want to go by myself. Ah well, maybe in a couple years.

He had no time for anyone who wasn't a comics pro. He said two words to people when he was being nice. Most of the pros would basically hang out with each other and thier friends but Geoff Johns just stayed with us the whole time. He was like "I'm a fan, I want to talk with other fans" which is ace.

I know what you mean. My teacher in high school was a comic book artist and went to a convention to show his stuff and get pointers. He said that, believe it or not, Ethan Van Sciver was a prick the way he talked to him about his stuff, but someone else (I forget which artist) was nicer to the people and told him what could be better, and that was that. While I'm here, I guess that I can say to all of the artists who might want to join the buisness: At the time we spoke, which was a bit more than a year, he said that he had friends who worked with both of the Big 2 companies that he spoke with at the convention I assume. He said Marvel will take more chances with hiring artists most of the time BUT will be very particular with the art. It has to be only one way and there is no freedom for the artist to try a different angle on things or to share his or her artistic vision (of course this doesn't go for every creative team). On the flipside, DC didn't hire as many random artists most of the time, but they're known to be more open to artistic freedom with their artists.
