I know this is like asking for someones religious beleifs or political affiliation in some places (ESPECIALLY with those first two choices) but I want to know anyways. Of course, i voted Kyle but there was a three way tie going on in my head between Jack T. Chance, G'nort, and he... they are all just too cool.

Only someone with an overabundance of cool can pull of a cape and collar--- my vote is Alan ("the first and greatest!") Scott!

I chose Hal Jordan. One of the most noted and one of the first JLA members. He had his dark moment as Paralax but people are still devoted to him. He's an oldie. It was really between him and Kyle Rayner and I just finally surrendered and chose Hal Jordan.

Seriously? We're going here? The great GL debate...
I think everyone knows where I stand on the issue *cough*Hal*cough*.
But I'd like to thank you, Ramon, for including Vidar!

no problem. hes real and some people may feel he is the coolest so why not? too bad you are wrong, kyle took on the world for years without backup and not only played a pivitol role in stopping hal, but also is responsible for hal being alive today! not only that but those wacky gaurdians love him and he has been more of a god then hal was and the power didnt get to his head. kyle all the way. <two thumbs up and a bijillion more ring construct thumbs uP>

Kyle takes first spot for me, followed closely by Alan Scott, and then Hal.

I voted for Hal, but it was a tougher decision than I thought. In order of the "big 3" GL's, I'd say my order goes Hal, Alan, and then Kyle. They're all great GL's in my opinion , and they are hard to compare because they really are all good in their own right.

no problem. hes real and some people may feel he is the coolest so why not? Yeah, he is definitely real... though his original origin was pretty stale... I think his DC2 origin, though sharing certain aspects of the original, is going to be quite a roller-coaster ride! And I agree that Kyle carried the torch well for his time... though there were a few times I actually considered dropping the title (the Ben Raab days). But I stuck with him & have been rewarded nicely with the return of Hal, which could not have happened without Kyle. He restored OA & the Guardians, he rekindled the CPB & more than proved himself worthy of the mantle on almost every occasion. Hal though... he's my boy. And how cute! Someone actually voted for Mogo! How can you not love a stationary sentient planet GL?

Wow! I saw this post and thought "This is it, the question that brings the site down!" LOL!
There are so many of them that I really like, personally I am a fan of Kyle's more then Hal, but Alan is the first and probably deserves the honor of best, if not favorite. John has always been underrated in my book.
However, I went with the one that truly entertains me the most. A character that I based (personality wise) my first Champions RPG character off of (and had a blast for several years with, I might add). Yes, it's Guy all the way!!! What can I say, he makes me laugh and ticks me off and yet I really feel for the guy when Ice is brought up.

Kyle. He's not the most recognizable, but he really has achieved the most.

I'll have to say John Stewart solely based on the depiction from the Justice League cartoon. What a great character!
Plus it's a little bit of a cop-out because I like Alan, Hal, and Kyle and am not sure I could choose one above the others.

I can't decide between Kilowog and Rot Lop Fan. Well I guess I've read more on Kilowog and 'Poozer' has become a part of my everyday vocabulary, so I'll take Kilowog by a nose.

I like Kyle in that he's an artist and his imagination builds some fantastic ring constructs, that are much better than a giant hand or frying pan. But I have to say when Hal punched out bats during his recent return, that put him in the lead.

Well....I was introduced to GL by Kyle...but then i read a bunch of old GL Hal issues and I found out how interesting he is. Don't get me wrong...Kyle is great but I really like Hal.

The first GL I read was Kyle, and I just got hooked on his character. I like Hal and John (I haven't read many Guy stories), but GL for me will always be Kyle.

I voted for Guy because I find him hillarious. In my opinion his will power comes from being such a dick all the time. It's like an energy that spills over into everything else.

I may be loosing the 'Great Hat vs. Hood Debate of 06', but at least my man Hal is kicking the boo-tay (OK, it may be by two, but who's counting really?) here!

I put Kyle because I loved him (gotta love a superhero who is an artist just like the rest of us starving artists) and he was incredibly creative (writers used him to make some of the most funny, unique and pop cultural constructs ever) but I also love the way Jon has been used in JLU.
What I don't like is that Jon is never really given any attention in comics, and even the little things they miss on. Like when I reread the Recharge series, and Infinite Crisis, and there are always parts where everyone has a line that plays to their strengths.
like Hal making a psuedo-order to others or even to Jon protect someone/ catch someone/ or offer refreshing advice or hope,
or Guy showing that he is Hal's equal (or to himself, the best),
or Kyle being the "torch bearer" and such (though I think he too is downplayed nowadays, he's been a so called "rookie" for like ten years now, and before rebirth and recharge he was given so much props as to his sucess with the ring without having training or support, and now he's "the new guy" again).
But Jon is just there. As a black guy, I'm sorry to say this, but he's really just the token lantern in the comics. He's that black guy with a ring. Forever second fiddle to Hal it seems, especially now that they are the two earth-assigned lanterns.
On JLU though, he has a rich character development, rich personality, issues and personal dramas, and his own role. Comic Jon needs a mini series or some solo time on Green Lantern (as I heard he will get).

I agree with all the points you made there with all of the Lantern's. I would love to see Jon take center stage for a while as long as it doesn't get weird again. I mean Mosaic was entertaining... but most of the time I just longed for an actual GL story.
I think with ION they're trying to give Kyle his own voice again... But I have to say I wish they would leave him as a Green Lantern. I could see the new GLC book being written as a team book. Not focusing on one character more than the other hell, they did it in the 80's. They do it in JSA, JLA, TT, Outsiders... why not try it in Green Lantern again?
Leave Kyle as GL... have a core (corps?) GL team of Jon (the leader), Guy (considers himself the leader), Kyle and Kilowog. Or maybe the team has no leader... I don't know... I just think it would be better than ION.

Jon Stewart is the fake-news anchor/comedian. JOHN Stewart is the afro-american Green Lantern, there is a difference. As for Kyle, well... they must hate him over there or something...
