I know this should probably go under the DCU title catagory, but there's no Misc. section, so here we go.
As you may or may not know, I'm the resident writer for DC2's WEIRD WESTERN QUARTERLY and self-professed Jonah Hex-nut. Give me time, and I'll talk you into buying his official title...but apparently, I haven't talked enough of you people into it. Since the first issue, the sales of JONAH HEX have been steadily dropping at the rate of 4% each month, with the last issue leveling out at around 20,000 books, and according to writer Jimmy Palmiotti, DC is not happy about this. The word "cancelled" has not been said yet, but they have been given a warning of sorts. So us lil' Hex-nuts have been conspiring behind the scenes, trying to think of ways to boost sales. This thread is my way.
If you are reading JONAH HEX currently, please pick up an extra issue to give to someone who you think would enjoy it in an effort to hook them. To those that aren't reading it...give it a shot. Every issue so far (#11 coming next week!) is self-contained, and you can walk right in with no knowledge of the character and still understand it. What other book can you say those two things about these days? If you don't like Westerns, don't sweat it: each issue focuses on timeless themes of greed and vengeance and love (yes, Jonah gets some!), not just horsies and sixguns. As Palmiotti once put it, it's Punisher in the Old West. And for those of you who "wait for the trades", pick up the black & white Showcase edition of his early adventures from the 70's, or the new trade coming soon collecting #1-6 of the new series.
And if you're STILL not convinced after that pitch, go read a few issues of WWQ and sample a bit of Hex FOR FREE! I promise you, the real thing is even BETTER! Please, folks, I'm on my knees here, BUY JONAH HEX! You won't be sorry!
