So, V for Vendetta opened last weekend. What did you think?
I personally thought it was great. It wasn't an exact replica of the series, but it did it justice.

Unfortuntaely, I'm probably going to miss it. I usually only go see movies with this girl I'm seeing, and she doesn't understand English, let alone ever read a comic book. Looks like I'm stuck on eurotrash movies for a while!

haha. some how i don't have a hard time beleiving you, doc. you may be by far the most eccentric member i know. close second is possibly bigevilhead.
i didn't see it either. if they are going to make a movie by Moore, he had better have something to do with it. after i read from hell that movie was trash. i didnt even bother with League.

I saw it. Having never read the comic (I know, just shoot me) I have the unique perspective as seeing it as just the movie without any preconcieved notions. I thought it was OK. It didn't make me care about "the revolution" I was more intrigued by V himself and they never really delved much into the man...I know, it's supposed to be about the ideal and not the man. They sure shoved that down my throat enough that I got it. Spolier warning.... if you are going to see it don't read any further. . . . . . . .If the freeing of society was his purpose, and not the killing of his "creators" then why did he kill them first? Wouldn't it have been a bigger blow to them to see their society they had created fall first and then kill them? The final deaths were particularly overdone. I'm not sqeamish about blood, but it looked like there was a grip off-camera shooting cherry koolaid with a super soaker water gun. See it. It's not a bad way to spend a evening, but don't expect Alan Moore greatness and thought provoking cinema. Hey, you did ask.

Overall I liked it. Not in the same league as Moore's original but worth watching. I thought the explosive ending worked really well, and I was glad to see the Valerie bit was intact, although the bit about V deceiving Evey seemed way more implausible than in the comic. Most of all, it made me want to read the comic again, which has to be a good thing.

I think Moore's original graphic novel can not be beat as far as the story goes, but keeping in mind what I've learned about the troubles they had to go through (the studio and producers and such) and the thnigs they had to tread carefully on (terrorism, the thought of anarchy, etc) I have to say they made a pretty damn good adaptation. We've all seen plenty of comic book movies that had nothing stopping it from telling a story and some a-hole decides to change the whole story around *cough cough* catwoman *cough cough* but this did a good job with all of the obstacles in its way.

I still haven't seen it... Everytime I set out to, I see something else on the marquee that grabs my attention. Last night it was: 'Thank you for Smoking' which was great!

Lucky Number Slevin was really good too. Funny ("with witty dialogue!") and plot that begins to become so good, you won't realize there was such a deep plot til you get to it. If that makes any sense at all.

Never saw it, but I'm sure Natalie Portman was as hot as ever!
