The source is iffy, and I don't really trust it due to DC's other teases, but if this is like the mess-up with Superboy-Prime in Monitor armour, then I think I'll be steering clear of Flash as a diehard Wally fan. Anyhow, spoilers *possibly* abound...

Did anyone see the Adrian Chase card in CHECKMATES section? Also... We'll see how it plays out. Could be good!

Yeah, I think that would be a terrible decision, but considering Bart being presented as the Flash on Smallville and the mirroring of the original Crisis in this event, I was sorta suspecting it could happen. Ick. I liked Wally as Flash and Bart as Kid Flash. If it wasn't broke, why try to "fix" it?

Well arguably, there was nothing wrong with Barry as the Flash and Wally as Kid Flash back in '85, but it turned out to be really good .

We really didn't even get a chance to see Flash (Wally) & Kid Flash (Bart) in action together. I mean, we had the occasional team up when Bart was Impulse & Wally treated him like an annoying younger brother, but I don't recall F & KF teaming up for anything really major.

good point. even when they had that moment in teen titans running on the water, it was breif. I really wished they hadn't done this, the possibilities were so good for him as kid flash with the rest of the second generation titans.

I agree. It seems forced and not necessary. I like Kid Flash! Now it's probably going to be a decade or more before we see one again. Oh well. I'll give it a try but Wally had just hit it big on JLU and everything.

Worst. Idea. Ever. Well, maybe the Doc is right, but I have to agree that Wally was just coming into his own. I mean, isn't Bart still really young? At least when Wally took the mantel from Barry, he was in his early twenties...wasn't he?

Bart and Wally teamed up during Rogue Wars for a couple of issues.

At least when Wally took the mantel from Barry, he was in his early twenties...wasn't he? Bart's a time traveler so they can always explain it away. But on that note, that's going to be one difficult origin story. You can't just say "hit by lightning", but rather it has to involve Barry going into the future and having some kids and eventually Bart is born but hyper-aged and then comes back and becomes Impulse and later Kid Flash but then travels through time some more to become... The Flash! Yikes. I'll try it out, but it's going to have to be pretty amazing to win me over I think.

I don't agree. He still has the amazing ability to write fantastic stories, but his source material now is so diluted from all the events that the X-Men universe has been through, it's damn hard to make an impact now. I love his work, because he's a legend in his field and right up there with Alan Moore as one of the greats of comicdom. And before you argue the fact that I'm wrong, Alan Moore has a fantastic run in the 80s, crafting amazing stories, but then from then till ABC, his stuff wasn't innovative, merely... Ok.

Fair enough! Let's just say that Claremont is the reason I only collect Astonishing X-Men. As far as Moore goes, I honestly don't have an opinion. The man's a genious!

Amen to that. I really hope this isn't true. Also, I think some of the Checkmate listings are old and not reflecting the new stuff.

I read a put-down of him in TOYFARE recently: they called his recent Excalibur work "fanfic"...wait, maybe that's not a put-down... I'm gonna be weird and say make Jay Garrick the one and only Flash again! Sure he's almost a century old now, but I like his hat! ;D

People have allied themselves with certain characters for dumber reasons. But seriously, I like Jay, and who's to say that he can't be rejeuvenated (probably spelled that wrong)? Barry wasn't interesting until he was a martyr, Wally was good, Bart is SO not ready...let's give Jay some face-time. Better yet...whatever happened to Jesse Quick?

She lost her powers in The Flash #200... She was then the JSA business manager... And had a fling with Rick Tyler, Hourman II?
