Great news for STAR WARS fans! Lucasfilm has just announced another edition of the STAR WARS TRILOGY on DVD. But this set (actually, I think they're being released as individual DVDs) is going to be a little different. Not only are the 2-Disc movies going to include 2004's digital remasters of the Star Wars Trilogy with some changes (some good, some rediculous and unnecessary), but the DVDs are also going to include the ORIGINAL THEATRICAL EDITION OF THE MOVIES!!!!!! Now we get BOTH editions!! Yeay!!! This set will only be available from September 12th to December 31st. I've been wanting to get the trilogy on DVD, but I was skeptical when I heard that they contain some of the most rediculous changes I've ever heard of. Now, I'm going to be able to experience BOTH EDITIONS of the movie whenever I want. This is a MUST BUY on my list!!! Here's a link to the article: dvd.ign.com/articles/704/704888p1.html

The only updated thing on this version of the trilogy is a cleaned up print and THX sound. Apart from that, all the scenes are from the original three as seen in theatres.

Not really.
Each of these new releases will contain 2 versions of the film (so in the "A New Hope" box you get 2 versions of "A New Hope"). The first version is the 2004 DVD release version, with the added quotes, digital remaster, added backgrounds, a couple of added scenes, added shots, and the new Vader (Christiansin) at the end of "Return of the Jedi". The second version will be the ACTUAL THEATRICAL RELEASE of the film. This version will only feature a minor resoration, and will not include any new scenes, backgrounds, or shots that weren't in the original. This version will feature the original ANAKIN SKYWALKER actor at the end of the film.
This way, you can watch both the new version with added special effects and the original theatrical release from 1 box!!
