hey guys, the other day another member and myself had an idea. why don't we storm the e-fortress of wizard magazine to get some recognition. so here is the plan. we write one e-mail and all send it in one day to
magicwords@wizarduniverse.com
thats right. we need to set a quick attack, a blitzkreig if you will, on the lettercollumn of wizard and who knows maybe they will actually listen or respond or something. can't hurt to try. so who is with me??
WHO'S WITH ME?!!

Would you mind giving us a more defined purpose? Do we just want them to mention the amazing fan-fiction site that is the DC2, have a letter from one of us in their letter column about DC2, or give us an article? Some sense of direction would help, as I'm easily lost.

we want to irritate them into putting the DC2 name in press. however they do that doesn't matter.

-sighs- I suppose I'm in...but we need to investigate the enemy defences first. I eman, we already have an automatic weak spot because it was ramon who thought of the idea...that's always worrying. When he thinks, I mean.

In the immortal words of Ton-Loc:
'Less do it'
Knowing Wizard though, they'd print the letter in it's entirety, but remove our web address just to be sarcastic pains in the ass.

Why not write one really good letter and send it once, rather than bombard them with spam so they hate us, regardless of how good the letter is? Or is it just me that would find it a pain if I kept getting the same e-mail hour after hour?

yes it is a pain. but i am sure it is one they have on a regular basis anyhow.

yes it is a pain. but i am sure it is one they have on a regular basis anyhow. Yeah, but that doesn't make it right. Surely you, as a moderator, can't be promoting the use of Spam on this website, since that's against ProBoards.com's Terms of Service and could get this website shut down.

Okay guys.
I think Ramon's idea is well-intentioned and we aren't selling anything so I don't think we are out to spam anyone, but Mark has a point that if we make ourselves an annoyance it could just as easily backfire and Wizard could give us a negative regard or just put us on Ignore. Not that we haven't been doing just fine without them, but it would be cool to get a mention or a nod. I do think that a well-crafted letter (maybe with all our virtual signatures? something like that) would be adequate for what we would need to do that. Just present info about the site and some of our notable points (Ellen's recent feature on LITG for instance) and either they'll be interested or they won't. Bombarding them won't make them more interested. I would say we could promote on their forums, but I guess (after checking) they don't have those anymore.
See, it's all good fellas.

I'm fine with that, and never doubted Ramon's intentions, just the validity of his approach. Of course, once we have a well-crafted letter we could send it to other publications as well - Comics International, SFX, Dreamwatch, etc.

So how about using this space to start compiling things to put in the letter and figure out who should write it?

That's a really good idea though, I'm all for it. Of course, to be sneaky but still not quite spammy, perhaps a series of various...unrelated...positive letters about the DC2 could randomly filter in quietly throughout a week or two. Like a ton of fans have all of a sudden discovered this place, seperately.
