I'm a big fan of music. I know it's a cliche to say "a little bit of everything" when asked what you listen to but I really do listen to a bit of everything. Well, not so much country music.
Anyway, list a few artists that you enjoy. It can either be what you are listening to at the moment or all-time favorites.
I'll go first:
The White Stripes - Love the new album. Okay, I like pretty much everything this duo does.
Green Day - The recent album is still a solid piece of work and I keep putting it in the player.
Weezer - Okay, Beverly Hills is kinda lame but it's still Weezer!
Coldplay - New album? Eh, mostly listening to Parachutes right now.
Radiohead - I can't really seem to go a week without listening to some Radiohead. Okay, so what, I like sleepy Brit bands. ;D
Gorillaz - Liked the first effort better but this is still good stuff.
Muse - Just started listening to these guys. Pretty nice.
And Backyardigans.... okay, I have small children, so sue me. Those songs are just so darn catchy!
I've been checking out other new stuff like My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy but nothing's really struck me lately. That's about it for the moment.

Queens of the Stone Age. I love QOTSA. If you knew me, you'd know that I don't stop going on about how great Josh Homme is. Their latest album lacks something... Be it the bass that Nick Oliveri bought to the group, or just the spark which makes "that album" a must have for me. Fav songs :- Songs for the Dead, Regular John, Mexicola, Burn the Witch Do it Again, Go with the Flow and Hanging TreeFoo Fighters. How can you not love the Foos? Dave Grohls voice is amazing, but not as fantastic as his drumming. If you've ever seen this band live, you'll remember it Fav songs :- Low, Disenchanted Lullaby, Everlong, DOA, Best of You and All my LifeLinkin Park. I just love this band... and their first album. Every song grabs me, and they have a wide range of song types, if ya' get me... The remixes is something i don't intend to ever get, but if i see it cheap... Fav songs :- Numb, From the Inside, In the End, With you, Pushing me Away and Papercut. Songs that grab me (recently)... Nine Inch Nails - Only Feeder - Shatter Institute - Bulletproof Skin Any Portishead... Any Led Zepellin... Any Coldplay (the new album is great!!! But i do prefer Parachutes) I could go on... But I'd bore you But if you check out my blog, you'll see the odd 'top five' which i post every now and then, be it songs... films... comics.... spaces.msn.com/members/HousesOfMystery

Broadway showtunes and New Country. When it comes to Broadway, almost anything by Ahrens and Flaherty, plus the Wicked soundtrack.
For New country, I'm very much into Martina McBride, Jo Dee Messina, Garth Brooks, Lonestar, John Michael Montgomery, The HoMons, Alan Jackson, LeAnn Rimes, Reba McIntyre, Sarah Evans...

My favorites... where to start... I'll start with my absolute favorites & then list the others I can't live without. Music is a big part of my life... Coldplay (every album, EP & B-side ever produced, especially Rush of Blood to the Head & the Blue Room EP) - seen 'em in concert 4 times now. Echo & the Bunnymen (every album... the new one Siberia is superb)... Actually, Ian's solo projects are just as good... especially 'Sliding' - seen them in concert 2 times, 3rd this December The Cure (not quite all of them... but I own them anyway) seen 'em 5 times Depeche Mode - 4 times Oingo Boingo (everything I can buy, steal, find... ANYTHING... Danny Elfman is a musical God) - 4 times before the demise Muse - nope INXS - nope A Perfect Circle (for some reason, not a big TOOL fan though) - nope Love & Rockets - 3 times Bauhaus - once Tones on Tail - L&R played a song of theirs... The Beatles (and all their solo stuff... except Ringo) - I wish Catherine Wheel - nope Cocteau Twins - nope Concrete Blonde (although the last two albums were CRAP!!!) - once David Bowie - nope Death Cab for Cutie & the Postal Service - nope & nope Doves - nope Embrace - nope Erasure - nope The Flaming Lips - nope Keane - once Led Zeppelin - I wish The Stones - nope Marilyn Manson - nope Moby - nope Morrissey & the Smiths - nope New Order - nope Nick Drake - dead = nope Oasis - nope PINK F-ING FLOYD MAN!!! I WISH!!! Prince - nope Queen - nope Queensryche - nope RADIOHEAD - nope Remy Zero (even though Smallville killed their career) - nope Rob Zombie & the White variety - nope The Shins - nope Simon & Garfunkel - nope Siouxsie & the Banshees (not two you'd expect to see next to each other in a collection) - my very first concert was them with Jane's Addiction & NIN Smashing Pumpkins - 3 times Travis - nope U2 - Once VAST - nope Just to name a few I have over 600 CD's in my collection & a nearly full 20 gig I-Pod. Too much info?

Ha. No, that's great, LL. Whole lot of great bands and artists there. I haven't seen as many newer bands as the family thing makes that not so easy but there were few 90s bands I didn't see. Heck, going to most of the Lollapaloozas insured that alone. I think my favorite concert experience was getting to see the Grateful Dead (with the Steve Miller Band, ha). I, uh, won't say why though.

Recently I've been listening to a ton of Progressive Rock. Bands like Jethro Tull, Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Camel, ELP, Gentle Giant, Kansas, Liquid Tension Experiment, Pink Floyd, and (my being Canadian) Rush.

I'm actually a veteran of the first 2 Lollapalooza's myself... The first was my first concert ever... my second concert was the esteemed Oingo Boingo. Best concert was Coldplay at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas on the Rush of Blood tour. Very small room, standing room only, right up against the stage.

Lately, all I've been listening to are books on CD and classical (my favorites are Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Mendelsohn), and trying to build my opera collection (Verdi is a demi-god, but Mozart is a god). My more mainstream interests include: Elvis Costello Elton John Billy Joel Green Day Scissor Sisters U2 Foo Fighters Red Hot Chili Peppers Cake Jimmy Buffet Hall and Oates Oasis and my all-time favorite of any genre, the Beatles.
Concerts I've been to: A couple Lilith Fairs Pink Floyd (the Division Bell tour--- awesome!) Air Supply (Can't believe I'm admitting that) Red Hot Chili Peppers Foo Fighters The Cure Cake Jimmy Buffet Elton John (best show ever) Billy Joel Tool
Jesus Christ Superstar Cats (twice, shudder) Phantom of the Opera Les Miserables Movin' Out
La Traviata La Boheme Aida Don Giovanni (An absolutely incredible experience! The Hamlet of opera!)

Ah, music, key to the soul ...
Have to say I'm a heavy metal fan, though I do like softer stuff too. Mostly I like:
Opeth NIN A Perfect Circle Tool Metallica Rolling Stones Green Day Regurgiator Fear Factory Goldfinger Reel Big Fish Frenzal Rhomb silverchair and most Australian rock and avant-guard stuff as well as older rock. We must admire the classics. ... basically if it's got a good beat, addictive riffs, a thrumming bassline and great vocals I'll listen.
On another note though, I am alos a huge fan of Joe Hisashi, Nobuo Uematsu and Yoko Kanno ... ;D I thoroughly enjoy all my geekishness

I was lucky enough to be able to see Don Giovanni a couple of years ago in the theatre in which it was first performed. I think it may have been an anniversary production too. 200 years? 250 years maybe. That's quite a difference, I really ought to know. A friend of mine was enjoying Rammstein a couple of years ago. Then I found the lyrics in the sleeve notes. He was quite a conservative guy and went very pale when I said, "Erm... You do know this song is about anal rape right?" Am I even allowed to say that on this forum? Sorry.

Now THAT is my fav group. In addition, I like (you don't have to look if it hurts ) Enya, Country (from Garth Brooks to present), 80's (especially the hair bands) and quite a bit of 70's. (fav artist in the 70's - 80's period has to be Pat Benatar. Oh yes...I have to throw the Monkees, Abba, the BeeGees, and the Beatles into the mix as well. And Van Halen after David Lee Roth left. Oh yes, Prague it was! It was a good production too. Obviously as I was sat up in the Gods, but the tickets weren't too pricey. It was Summer 2002. It was absolutely pelting down. It was the rain that caused the huge floods a couple of weeks later. So, I also got to go to the Smetana museum just before the floods got it. I was backpacking around Western/central Europe that Summer. The chance to go see Don Giovanni in the theatre where it was first performed was too good to miss. The joys of being a student. ;D All gone now though.

I like a bunch of everything. Since I come from another generation most of my stuff is sixties to eighties, but I do like ColdPlay and I have an album a friend gave me by either Jack Johnson or John Jackson. All I know is that it really kicks ass!
Other stuff. I am a huge U2 fan. They are second only to the Beatles in my opinion. I've seen them five times and actually have had my picture taken with Bono during the Joshua Tree tour.
Elton John The Cure INXS Eagles Van Halen (both David and Sammy) Styx Erasure My Life With the Thrill Kill Cult Pink Floyd Moody Blues and if this next one doesn't out me nothing will... Cher. LOL! Oh and Queen John Mellencamp and for hometown Michigan music I always turn to my main man Bob Segar
Peace, SL

Well, it's pretty interesting to see all the different tastes in music here. Gotta love that someone threw out Jethro Tull and Progressive Rock. Idlewilder, I saw Jesus Christ Superstar when it went around the country over ten years ago. Ted Neeley was reprising his role but Carl Anderson was off the tour for few weeks for some reason. Still a very cool show. Starlord, it's Jack Johnson and yeah I really dig his stuff too! I haven't heard the Garden State soundtrack, but I'll didn't have to check it out.

Jack Johnson!! Thanks.
I also got to see JCS with both the originals from the movie and it totally blew me away!!! Second best musical I have ever seen. I still have this thing for Les Mis.
If you can get the Soundtrack, I don't think you'll be disappointed!
Peace

Wow... your CD collection looks a lot like mine. My wife picks on me for my collection of KISS & Motley Crue CD's. But then I just mock her Bon Jovi collection... then secretly hide 'New Jersey' in my I-Pod.
I'm so ashamed...
