the heroes are forced to abandon their morals and kill the bad guys? Let me elaborate. As we all know, most superheroes do not kill the bad guys. The bad guys on the other had would have no problem killing the heroes. Well what if the bad guys succeeded in killing the heroes almost as often as the heroes succeeded in beating the bad guys. After a couple of years of that, a superhero organization like the Justice League would be crippled while the Legion of Doom would still be at full strength, at which point the Justice League would be forced to kill off the bad guys just to keep the balance of power. I'm not talking about radically different alternate universes where the bad guys control the world. I'm talking about something very similar to what already exists with the exception that the bad guys win almost as often as the heroes, kind of like real life.

Thanks. Are there any stories like that being planned here? Cus, if I were to write for DC, half the Justice League would be dead by now, but then so would half of the Legion of Doom.

Sounds like a good Elseworlds story! You should write it!
I would agree and say that Kingdom Come is the closest I've seen to all-out Superhero War. Well, one that has a body count at least. As far as superheroes doing questionable things, I would say this whole line of conflicted heroes stories (Kingdom Come, Authority, Identity Crisis) spun directly out of two 80s stories: 'Watchmen' and 'Squadron Supreme'.

Have you seen the Justice Lords episode of JLU?

Justice Lord isn't really what I'm talking about. Flash was the only hero that died in that universe and I think Luthor was the only villain that died. I'm talking more about a continuity where the heroes and villains fight like a real life war where any hero or villain could die at any time, although it generally means that the non super powered heroes die a lot more often and faster than the super powered ones. Like if I wrote a story, Batman would probably get punched in the face by Metallo and die, Toyman and Mirror Master would probably get vaporized by Captain Atom.

There was a series published by a small company back in the 80s (I forget the name of the series and publisher DOH!).
The premise was that organized crime started focusing on getting rid of superheroes, and they were pretty good at it. Either kill the heroes, or blackmail them to stop. The body count in the first of issue was very high. The heroes eventually reorganized themselves like the mob and started doing the same tactics to the organized crimelords.

That IS an interesting topic.
If I write Batman, I would make him kill.
I think the Green Lantern members kill. I am not so familiar with their books, but don't they destroy enemy space ships with their own crew on them?
Superman HAVE the chance not to kill by defeating anyone he fights.

Killing really should be a last resort for superheroes. The new superheroes who kill in Kingdom Come are just jackasses drunk with their own power. It should only happen in a scenario when the bad guys are killing the heroes and the heroes are forced to retaliate through deadly force in order to keep the balance of power. I would say that only after the Legion of Doom has killed and forced half of the Justice League to retire would the heroes start killing the bad guys and even then a lot of heroes who are against killing would either leave the League and maybe even take direct actions against the League.
