With rumors a plenty now that Infinite Crisis is in full swing, if you were the EIC over at DC Comics, who would you green light to replace Bruce Wayne as Batman? I went with Jason Todd. It would be such an interesting over-the-top element to have him as Batman. It would also make Bruce's return that much better.

sorry mayte, i gotta go with dick. anyone but him filling bats' boots would seem like blasphemy. plus the if todd took his place it would parallel that whole azrael batman thing with having a "crazy" batman and what not. todd is just too young. the only thing i see wrong with dick as batman is that he really made a name as nightwing and worked damn hard so character-wise i could see conflicts with him taking bruce's spot... he gets all whiny about being associated with batman for some reason

I go for Grayson as well. No one else derserves that mantle but him.

I am sorry but didn't they already do that twice? All everyone did was wait for Bruce to come back. It was very lame and I hope they do not do it again! That said I voted for Dick because he is the only logical choice. Besides, isn't Jason Todd dead?

He is the new Red Hood I think that's what they call him. I do know that he kicked Tim's behind all thru Titans Tower this month. His return has sparked a bit of controversy. By the way, I love your avatar. Made me laugh out loud it did. ;D

I was saying "Jason's dead" in a tongue and cheek kinda way. I still find it hard to believe they found a way to bring him back. I do like Judds writing so I will trust him for now. But I still think he is dead!

I kind of hope it's a Jason Todd from a different Earth (like the 2nd Luthor and PowerGirl). Unfortunately, due to stated connections to the lazarus pit, it seems it may be our own Jason Todd.

See, thats what I am thinking. If the explaination is good enough I could buy it. But I am just not seeing it. It was a cool thing to do IMHO but, I still need some explaination beyond what we've been given.

But I still think he is dead! oh ok. Yah, I wasn't sure about Jason're return myself. I didn't like it when it started but then all of a sudden he got really interesting. Now I'm sitting back and just enjoying the ride.

I gotta go with Dick Grayson. He's the only one the fans will accept on any kind of permenent basis. He's got the gravitas and experience for the role, and can bring something to it that it appears Bruce has lost: perspective and objectivity.

Great post Idlewilder. You make some awesome observations there on the nature of the "Batman" and what this character needs in spades.
