The cinematography looks great. And I'm slowly getting interested in it ((I never really was a fan of the original movies **ducks tomatoes** and the fact that this one sort of takes off from them kind of has me out of the whole squeeage mode that I otherwise might have been in...)

Sounds like they've kept some of the original music, which I always loved. And Jor El is still Marlon? At least I thought that was the voice. That's kind of cool. We'll see. I'm always hesitant about a Superman movie but it looks good so far.

I think they're using stuff he's done in the past for the movies - both used and unused voice recordings - for Brando. Yeah, that totally rocks. And yep, they're totally using the original score - or at least some of it.
I do hope the movie does at least as well as Batman Begins.

I don't know about this movie. Sure it's going to be one of the most expensive films ever made, if not the most expensive, but why are they making it a sequel? They should just reboot the series like they did with Batman Begins.

It was definatley Brando's voice. Wonder how much the estate is getting for that?

so its for sure that it is not a reboot? i thought with all those images of young clark it was a reboot? It does make little sense to make this a sequel just because a lot of the smallville audience (not YOU guys i mean the One Tree Hill guys) will PROBABLY be the target audience and if my stereotypes are the bit acurate... they don't give a crap about theose old movies.

No, they really don't.
Beyond the comic book fans, I'm not sure how many of that generation may have soon those movies after they turned six

I think smallville fans that were not superman fans are not going to care about the movie because Tom Welling is not in it and it's not full of angsty whining teenagers. I have been following the production from the beginning (in fact I have too much info and can tell you the plot if you want) and in my opinion, it's going to be an amazing thrill ride! I can't wait to see it.

okay well the smallville fans WILL see it, otherwise it will not gross much. they are responsible for the success of fantastic four. i know them, i talk with them... they will see this movie and say its "old school" and if it catches on wear superman logo shirts again. i was in high school when batman begins came out... it was awful. all of a sudden people thought they were experts on comics and said they had the first issue of batman. they actually asked why batman wasn't in the x men, it would make a good team they said. they will see this movie.

I'm thinking this movie looks pretty good so far. A few things I'm not sure about yet but Bryan Singer has done a good job so far with X-men so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm not sure either why they are going out of their way to match up to the other movies. As much as I loved the first two, I'm ready to see a slightly fresher vision of the Superman franchise. Oh well, wait and see I guess.

Took my oldest boy (7) to see Goblet of Fire yesterday and caught the peak of Superman. All around me I could hear both younger and teenage kids whispering "Cool, a new Superboy movie." My son turned to me and said, "What are they talking about, Dad? That's Superman not Superboy. Don't they know anything." I just patted him on the leg and tried to explain Smallsville to him. I guess I'm raising him right after all. ;D

Oy...
It looks interesting. Being a huge fan of the original 2 Superman movies (I try to ignore the existance of 3 & 4) and knowing that this one is supposed to (at least what I've heard) follow the continuity of the first movies, I'll just say it has A LOT to live up to. Seeing Kevin Spacey as Lex will rock though.
I giggled at Ramon's post above... "i was in high school when batman begins came out... " Wow... I was in 9th grade when the first Keaton Batman movie came out & I will say that nothing has changed. The same thing happened then too. Every warm body wore a Batman shirt to school & suddenly being a comic book geek was cool.

Oh to see the bitter and cautious comic book fan rumblings. It seems that we(I say we because I too am part of the bitter and cautious group) are so ready to tear something down before it is built that we forget this movie and every other big Hollywood comic book adaption isn't being made for us. Comic book fans hold such a small percentage of the market place they will never make a movie for us. No comic book movie made so far has drawn more people into the comic book shops and increased comic sales to any measurable degree and I doubt this one will either. So for this reason I am still bitter at all of the Batman movies before Begins(yes I said ALL of them) for not telling one good story as good as one you could find in Detective or Batman in the last 30 years. I thought Tim Burton sucked at his concept of the Characters in the rich mythos of Batman and it only went down hill after that with Shoemucker! Then came X men, and Singer was faithful to the source material and it was a winner. Fast forward and we have 2 X Men movies and 2 Spiderman movies that a lot of comic book fans can be proud of (minus the few miscues like green goblins costume and the organic web shooters). Which brings me to my point finally after ranting! I think Bryan Singer will be faithful to the source material. It's just a question of which material. If he encompasses the entire history of Superman then I think we will see a great movie. If he is faithful to the Superman movies only, we will see a pretty good movie. I don't think the WB execs will try to exclude anyone by making it a strict sequel to the first movies. In fact I think this sucker will be marketed to EVERYONE! Superman is one of the most recognized "people" in the world period. That doesn't mean everyone will like it, some might hate it. But I will go on record to say that this could easily be one of the largest if not THE largest grossing movies of all time and passing Spiderman along the way. If I am wrong it wont be for lack of trying. They will market the crap out of this movie! Yes there will be a lot of bandwagon jumpers along the way. But remember those people do not stick around in large numbers anyways. Heck, if a few stick around we will welcome them to our happy world with open arms. Finally, as long as you remember that this movie isn't being made for us then you shouldn't get too worked up. I will continue to be a little bitter and a lot cautious especially after Batman Begins which was pretty good, but another movie that wasn't made for me. I liked it more then the first 4 combined but the be honest it was a C+ at best. Superman shouldn't be any less then an A+ and I hope they get it right!

I actually have more faith in Bryan Singer than any other director when it comes to handling a comic movie. I think it will be, if nothing else, a fun ride.

I think your right LL, Mark will give us one heck of a fun ride, if nothing else. The only part that is sad to me in all of this is that he had to give up directing X-Men 3. THAT is the movie I'm nervous about seeing, now.

It seems as though they're adding way too many mutants for that movie....and I'm so not loving their choice of Emma Frost - who is to me from the Marvel comics what Black Canary is to me from DC.
From what it sounds like, there will be quite a few unneccesary cameos and whatnot...I just hope that the movie isn't as bad as it suddenly has the potential to be.

You got that right. And with the looking like it's going the way of the Phoenix saga, they have the chance to really do it right, or...turn it into another Batman and Robin...<shudder>
