In case anyone missed it, this is from Dan Didio himself (on Newsarama):
"Let me pull out my full list: Plastic Man with #20, Flash with #230, Superman #226 is the last issue for that numbering, Wonder Woman #226 is the last issue of that run, Gotham Knights #74, Gotham Central #40, JLA #125, and Batgirl #73. "
The bit about Superman is either that Adventures of Superman is being renamed simply Superman; or that the Superman title is picking up the numbering from Adventures of Superman. Take your pick, either way, one Superman title is being cancelled.
Looks like there won't be any JLA for a while.
Thoughts?

Can I assume that there will be new books of Flash and Wonder Woman and Batgirl at least?

Flash and Wonder Woman, yes.
Batgirl, perhaps not. There is the rumored Batwoman series next year, though...

Cancelling Flash just pisses me off to no end. I fear for Wally's future.
How about Hawkman... I know it's not being cancelled... but the name is being changed to 'Hawkgirl'. Is Carter gonna die AGAIN???

I think Cassandra in her own book sounds intriguing. I'm not sure what they are going to do with Hawman but if they end up killing Wally I'm going to be very upset.

LMAO!!!! Well I guess we've been told! Has anyone else heard the rumor that Bruce Wayne is leaving to go join the French Foreign Legion and that he will be replaced by James Gordon? Anyone.....?

LMAO. Yeah, I was wondering the same thing about Carter. I mean, seriously, how many times can the guy die? He's like the Kenny of the DCU. I seriously think they need to make him into the new Resurrection Man or something.
And yes, here's praying that little Wally does NOT die.

It really seems they are promoting something similar to the original Crisis maybe to evoke that sense of a massive restructuring. After all, Wonder Woman and Flash both got restarts after COIE. Other titles like the Superman books for instance got shuffles and title changes. With the company looking very seriously at franchise building over the next few years it doesn't make sense to kill characters that are already commercially viable. I can almost guarantee you that no matter what else happens, Diana will be in the tiara and ready for the marketing push for the 2007 movie this time next year (but I seriously don't think it will take that long). I also bet that any other title changes will be temporary as well. I would be really, really, really shocked if they kill any major characters right now, many of them just now recovering from the effects of the last Crisis. I could see many a few more B-list deaths though. Atom, Elongated Man, Booster Gold, Guy Gardner, a whole list of guys who could get whacked in a second.

But of all the rumors that I've heard the one I hear most often is that Bruce Wayne ends up locked in Arkham and Dick finally wears the suit. Personally I think that would be a writers paradise for a while. Wouldn't actually mind to see that (for a little while at least). I do think you're right, KSM. Whatever they do, it won't be to the heavy hitters or at least not for very long. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about Booster and Atom though, especially Booster. The JLI group was one of my all time favorites and I'm still depressed over Blue Beetle's death, don't want to see Booster or Guy get wacked.

I think it would be cool to see Dick in the suit again too. The Prodigal story didn't really seem to make the most of that opportunity last time.
God, could you imagine the backlash that DC would get from fans if they killed Booster too? Yikes!

Well I for one would have to write to somebody. Although this is comics so you never know...Blue Beetle could still come back I guess. And I was really hoping that in the end it would be Atom who came back from where ever he was and saved the day. Now, from what I read of this last Hawkman issue, he's leaving...maybe for good. Didn't read the issue though. That's a real bummer to since I've always that he was one of the most under used characters in the DC universe. Well him and Ambush Bug.

That's very true, B. As negatively as the Post-Crisis DCU was painted in IC #1 and as strong as the chances are for some reality-tampering, then I'd say that it's a never-say-never sitch at the moment for any character dying or being resurrected or whatever. That would be great if Ted did come back too, think of how much more respect he'd get from the fan community too with all the uproar from fans.

i was a huge fan of beetle from reading back issues of JLI (at my old comic store they went for like 1 dollar a peice... yowza) and was PISSED that all the JLI guys are finally playing a factor in the universe... or at least that they were the ones that have to be f'd with now. so if they come back and in old form i for one will be extatic.

And speaking of resurrection, I do think this whole IC is to resurrect an entire world again. The new Batwoman comic, for instance, if there is one will probably be on the newley reformed Earth-2. That's just my thought on where it is going, though. Here's a thought, Booster is looking for the scabbard right? Perhaps on top of all the other powers it has, just maybe there is some kind of "essance" of Ted inside of the thing that will help bring him back. I know it's a real long shot, but I'll believe anything at this point. Also did anyone read this last issue of Plastic Man? If he runs in the continuity of the universe, Ras just came back.

I could see that, B. Helena maybe becoming Batwoman and having the current Batgirl (or dare I say Barbara) step in as a sidekick. That would be a fun book!
Hm, that's true. We could get Ted back to maybe help save the day or maybe even have Booster become a more powerful Blue Beetle? Ha, that would be weird actually.

Too bad Firestorm already has that two people sharing one hero thing going on. I bet it would be a helluva lot funnier if it was Booster and Ted intertwined as the new Blue Beetle. Talk about buddies that are stuck together. ;D

That's a good question. I would also think it depends on it Earth 2 does come back and if she goes back to it. Also I wouldn't be surprised if her story is really tied in with the new Supergirl as well. And after this last issue of that book, I'm not sure what to make of any of it. Do you really think DC would get rid of the name and face of "Power Girl" to create a Superwoman? It's an interesting idea.

I was thinking the "what if" on maybe having Earth 2 for a few months or longer. I could see her doing something similar to Helena. And the two have gotten a lot of play lately.

I'd definatley buy into it! And you are right, they both have been given a lot of "up front" time. One of my biggest fears if they bring back Earth 2 is that the JSA is going to get moved again and I have really liked them being on the one Earth. I guess only time will tell. Of course the bottom line is that DC will be getting a lot more of my money with all of these tie ins and 52 and that sort.

That's true. It would be a drag for the JSA to hop planets again, but on the plus side we would still have a monthly and they would be the greatest team on that world with no competition from the JLA! Ha.

I would love to see something great happen in the Nightwing book, finaly. Even though it would be great to see Dick as Batman for a time, he still has done too much to be his own person to keep it forever. And not being a fan of the direction the Nightwing book has gone in for the last couple of years...that is a rumor I will keep my fingers crossed it true.

IMHO, the JSA is the greatest superteam in the DCU. I hadn't bought an issue of JLA for about 3 years before John's & Batista's run started on it a few months back.
