I'm still buying this title, and I'm mildly entertained by the writers (that cover artist takes some getting used to, though; all his faces seem better fit for Popeye caricatures), but I still think they're going in the wrong direction with Arthur. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy each issue (and I'm thrilled that Aquaman is finally getting a little buzz), but it's just not the direction I'd take the character (for what it's worth). At least they're easing up on the jerk-off, Batman-of-the-sea personality.

That looks like a great article, Doc. Thanks for the link! When I get a chance to read it I'll make sure to comment here.
On a way side note, I finally managed to find an Aquaman action figure from the Justice League toy line! Woo-hoo! I don't really collect these but was determined to land one of these. Now if I can find some way to swipe, er, I mean BORROW my daughter's Teen Titans Aqualad figure I can play with them, uh, display them together. ;D

Yeah, they are smaller in scale and work pretty well at "sidekick size" to the JLU figures. You could also have a Green Arrow/Speedy set if you wanted. And Kid Flash is appearing this season so I'm sure an action figure will be available of him later. Pretty cool for any DC toy collectors or fans of any particular book's families.

Hmmm... The new costume looks like the silver age costume... Witha bit of Conan thrown in. (No, not Conan O'Brian!)

Thanks for the link, Charlie!
Not too sure about this one. I can't argue with the team of Busiek and Guice, or the fantasy approach, but a new Aquaman? Why?
An Aquaman with a short sleeves and armbands, now why didn't I think of th.... oh.. uh, heh.

I am definately going to be getting Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis. While I hated his run on JLA, Busiek is terrific on Conan, and this new status quo seems very interesting. Though, for the record, Arthur Curry King Orin, will always be Aquaman to me...

I'm pretty annoyed that they're changing him. It's gonna be 'new Aquaman vs old Aquaman' everywhere! There'll be no more interesting or fun discussions on the Aquaman DC board, and it'll be Hal and Kyle all over again.
P.S I take back all of this rant if he gets replaced by Tempest or someone.

I think it really depends on the way Busiek handles it Apprentice. From what I have read he is not gonna do anything to ruin the orin name and that was a big issue that H.E.A.T. had, that Marz didnt just introduce a new GL, but he dragged Hal through hell and turned him to a villain. Such is not the case with Aquaman. I think its an interesting take, I prolly wont read it because fantasy (dragons and such) aint what im about, but it seems cool enough. I dunno i just think people wont flip out as much as they did with hal because its a different scenario.

Just read the latest issue...
I dunno.
Atlantis has looked better... and that was definitely Garth's bloody ragged clothes floating by. Man, how much more can Orin take??? Well... I guess only about 3 more issues worth.

It's because of all the stupid stuff they made him do in Super Friends. Wait, they ALL did some pretty stupid stuff. Maybe it's because he stood out in that bright orange shirt. Dunno.
Me? I remember those safety tips after the show where a Super Friend would give you advice of some sort. Aquaman taught me that handy trick of pulling your eyelid down when you have something in your eye, and that it made your eye water and flush the foreign object out. Or maybe that was G.I.Joe? I don't remember, but thanks anyway Aquaman!

Any clues on who the new Aquaman will be? Could it possible be the son that Garth and Dolphin (she needs a better name) have, all grown up and sent from the future (or some such comic booky nonsense)? Ceriden, I think his name is? The new supporting cast seems very interesting, especially the guy in the hood.

That seems funny considering I was thinking the same thing when I was researching The Forgotten Heroes for the Suicide Squad. keep an eye out........I've got ideas! As for Aquaman I can't wait to pick up this book post-IC! The King needs respect once again and sword just might do the trick!

I think the baby is a girl... I thought it was a boy too until the last issue. The baby is a boy, but several writers have messed up (including a mistake in IC #3). DiDio apologised for it on Newsarama.

SPOILERS! OMG! Aquaman's whole scene has been trashed! Vulko is dead! Koryak is dead! But they never say if Garth is... they hint at it, but I didn't see a body! It's not like Arthur can take revenge against the Spectre, but when he finally put back on that one green glove, I knew there will be trouble coming Black Manta's way, at least...
