Morrison and Quitely are at it again with the NEW Batman and Robin. And the artist duties are being rotated so this one should come out on a regular schedule (unlike All-Star Superman).
A bold new direction and dynamic for our favorite duo. What did you all think?
{Be forewarned that the issues will be discussed so SPOILERS await ye that have lollygagged and not read the comic yet. ;D}

I enjoyed it for what it was. Light on story, more concerned with action and getting from point a) to b) in the easiest way possible. Damien doesn't grate on me as much as he did a few months back. I'm still a bit peeved over the lack of cohesion when it comes to his characterisation, as in Battle of the Cowl #1, but hey, I'll let it slide, because honestly, it wasn't required at all, and I would have preferred seeing Judd Winnick on it instead, but we can't always get what we want Frank Quitely is an artist who I used to despise-- mainly because of his chubby figures in The Authority but his work on We3 and All-Star Superman has breathed new life in his style, and I'm following this book like nothing else matters. Pyg was scary, and is Dollytrons (Dolltrons?) were freaky-as-- and the introduction of more characters from the awesome (I loved it) Batman #666 was cool to see, and it shows what the Batbooks need right now-- fresh blood story-wise, new villains, all the stuff I was intending to bring to Batman on the DC2 in the next few months! God, I hate DC

I enjoyed it immensely. Just a clear narrative unlike what Morrison did in Final Crisis #7. I enjoy Damian as Robin. Brings something new to the table(reminds me of how Jason acted as Robin) and man I love that Robin suit!

I really enjoyed it. Pyg and his dolls were ridiculously creepy, seriously, they freaked me out. And I'm loving the oldschool simple feel.

I went into this expecting to hate it... but, to my surprise, I actually enjoyed it.... not great, but solid, unlike RIP or FC....
Still, I think pretty much every other bat-book (especially streets of gotham and gotham city sirens) is going to blow this one away....
I hate the art, as I've always hated quitley's art and nothing has changed that... it looks almost like someone puked on the page to me, but hey, at least the story was decent and that's what really counts...

I liked it quite a bit. But I'm not a regular fan of the Bat-books out these days so the NEW driving this title was really enticing for me.
So many cool things about this book. Flying Batmobile! It's just too cool. The sound effects being integrated into the action was also a really fun new element. Pyg was a creepy bad guy from what little was seen so I can't wait to see more of Morrison's new villains. And the new headquarters layout page was nice too. Part of why I like Morrison's straight up superhero work so much is that he seems to understand what's cool about comics - present and past - and mixes it all together into something that's pretty genius.
And I think this is the coolest Robin I've ever seen. Awesome costume. Total punk. These guys nailed it. But the only problem is that maybe Morrison likes Damian too much as he seemed to overpower Dick as Batman. Plus I'd like to have seen something more progressive and bold for Dick's Batman costume.

Quitley's work is up and down and there was a lot of it here that I liked, except that Damien who's head reminded me of Stewie Griffen. I predict that Grant will end up doing what he always does, though. Start of strong, get everyone sucked in, then go off on some bizzare story that hardly anyone will understand and then laugh at everyone and have to spend several weeks explaining it to those of us that obviously aren't as smart as him.

To be fair this isn't what he always does I don't believe. He most notably did it when he spectacularly failed on the finale of Final Crisis but a good portion of his less lofty work has resolved well. I just know FC left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths.

You are right, Brandon. FC left a horrible taste in my mouth and I may have been a little (a lot) bitter. lol
I've never been a huge fan of Grants, but I can't deny that what I do enjoy of his stuff, I tend to love. (Animal Man and All Star Superman being at the top of that list)

Oh boy, I guess I feel a need to comment here.
I was SHOCKED that I enjoyed this issue. I liked the Dick/Damian/Alfred dynamic, the new villain(s) have a TON of potential, and I even liked the flying batmobile. And this coming from Morrison, a writer I don't care for much at all.
But I see the signs of how eventually I'm not going to like this run, or any of the bat-books for that matter that actually feature Batman. And the main problem is...
I don't like Dick Grayson as Batman.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Dick Grayson character. Loved him as Robin, and loved him graduating to Nightwing. That's where I feel he is best served. Now, I understand why he would put the cowl on, and the whole "Gotham-needs-a-Batman" thing. And if anyone is going to take over as Batman, it has to be Dick. But I don't like it.
Batman is my favorite DC character. His origin is perfect and his mission is clear. I love the supporting cast, and he has arguably (though I don't know who else you'd nominate) the best villains gallery in comics. Dick Grayson does not possess the temperment, and more importantly, the DRIVE to be Batman, in my opinion. Nobody fears Robin. Or Nightwing.
We're doing it here at the DC2 as well. And the stories are very well written and entertaining. I'm enjoying them, and I'll continue to read them. But it's not right for me, it's not Batman. I guess I'm whining. I know he'll return in the comics, and he may return here as well, but...
BRUCE WAYNE IS BATMAN. And I can accept no substitutes. Sorry.

DC are challenging my resolve to stop buying as many comic books! Damn you, Cameron Stewart on Batman & Robin--! Damn you! I'm really liking the look of all this, especially those last two panels. Stewart's work deserves much more recognition that it's getting already. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction!

This books been chugging along and it's the only regular bat title right now as far as I care. The rest of them weren't doing anything for me. It seems to me that nobody else is writing Dick as Batman as, well, Dick as Batman. The other titles all read just like Bruce as Batman and don't really feel different to me than a run of the mill Batman comic. I think only a few writers do a decent Dick Grayson and most of the Nightwing title was proof of that. The stuff Morrison has done in B and R so far has been stellar in my opinion. I just re=read the first three arcs as a collected edition and it only gets better every time I read it.

It is an event book without being an event book. Required reading for the Bat-mythos right now, that's what I've heard it referred to as. And I can agree with that, I think, very cool, exciting stories, great teams behind them, and they're important. And Chris, I see what you mean by "Dick as Batman" in B&R, it feels like everything else is just filler stories with names changed around.
Charlie.

This is one of the few books I am still buying. It is a crazy over the top romp most every single issue. Grant Morrison and his artists have brought the fun and dynamism more than in just about any other comic. I usually can't wait till a new issue comes out. No other Batman book on the stands can touch it, for my money, which isn't saying much because I'm usually broke!
Probably my favorite book right now.
