I'm surprised there wasn't a thread already set up for this title, but as there's not I can set one up now! I picked up the past two issues of this title because, simply put, I love Chris Batista, and I have not been let down.
This is some epic storytelling (the first issue slotting into The Great Darkness Saga was majestic) and some snappy writing that only JM Dematteis and Keith Giffen can deliver, and it doesn't feel forced, it doesn't feel awkward, it's just great work from them.
It tying into JL:Generation Lost doesn't even feel like it's the wrong move to make, because you can read the two series separetly (which is what I'm doing now).
I do like the idea that Maxwell Lord wasn't always the genocidal terrorist that he is in current continuity, and I'm hoping that something happened to him at some point to explain this terrible addition to the DC mythos. I mean, wow, seriously. I could let it slide when I was ignorant to JLI but now, having mined the 80s like every good comic reader should, it's just appaling. It's just bad.
And I loved Booster's verbal put down of Cyborg. Sure, I don't think it was in character for Cyborg to do it (have you seen the mess [Teen] Titans has become recently?) but for Booster to just lay in to him felt good.
I'm going to keep following this, for sure.
Charlie.

Yeah, Booster's rant in defense of the JLI was a great moment. It did seem odd for Cyborg to be such a dick though. I agree about Max too. It will be nice to get an explanation on his transition to a$$hole. Even if they reveal it to have been a more gradual turn it would make more sense.

I think they needed a mouth piece, and whilst it wasn't out of character per se, it was just... I do feel like a lot of the younger DC characters would think the JLI were screw ups. They're more likely to remember KooeyKooeyKooey than defeating Despero, right? Maybe it'll all be revealed as a continuation of Maxwell Lord's possession by Dreamslayer? You never know... Charlie.
