Well...
I loved the Rann Thanagar war series... it was actually my favorite of the 4 mini-series that came out last summer. I loved the return of the L.E.G.I.O.N. (big shock there, huh?) and the continuing adventures of Adam Strange.
This special though... was mediocre at best.
The artwork started off really well and plummeted quickly. Specifically the coloring. It almost seemed like it was rushed to meet the deadline.
Spoilers:
The death of Jade was... OK... contrived? It made sense (I guess) to explain Kyle's transformation into Ion... which I still think is a bad idea. The actual scene where she got zapped was horribly rendered. I don't like Kyle's space mask. I do like his take charge attitude at the end.
I'm interested to see what the Guardians were yakking about: The next evolution of their warriors & such.
Anyway, anyone else have an opinion?

Yeah, I felt a bit ambilavent regarding the death of Jade. I was surprised (I had my own expectation of who was going to die), but her death was too sudden, and it didn't really look like anything killed her. By the end, her death and Kyle's evolution had too much Deus Ex Machina written over it. That's my opinion anyway.
It was kind of nice to see some resolution to the Rann/Thanagar war though.

finally got to read it and I agree on the artwork, it wasn't that great. story was ok. I wasn't impressed with Ion's mask either. But I am very intrigued about the Guardians comments towards the end.
and Jade's demise...poor Alan was my first reaction, and really my only one.

It wasn't the greatest, but I still thought that it was a very solid performance. I enjoy Ion's mask. It's really cool looking
