Hey guys,
So I have a short story that I wrote last spring and I would love to submit it for publication. The trouble is, I don't know what publications there are out there. It's a Fantasy story, so that kind of makes it difficult for general literary magazines. And it's just under 7k words, which puts it above the limit for most of the contests I've found. I did send it to Realms of Fantasy, where I got my first official rejection letter (first step to being a real writer, right?)
Does anyone have any suggestions?

what about Charlie's Zenith! magazine? I think Sam means a real, professional publication, not a back alley POD book, but she contributed something to our special #1.5 issue (I'll be posting some information about that in the next few weeks), and is always welcome to contribute in the main volume!

Go to your local library and ask if they have a current edition of "Writer's Market" in their Reference section. It lists agents, publishers, magazines...it's like a phone book for beginning writers. You can also buy a copy at the bookstore, but they run at least $30 and the info can change from year to year. I bought one a couple of years back because I realized it would take me all day to jot down all the possible agents/publishers I could contact, but if all your're looking for is a fantasy magazine, it should only take you a little while to ferret those ones out of the list.
