So what’s Earth A? I know that the main DC2 continuity is Earth One, but how does Earth A fall into it. I see that section all alone, just sitting there with no stories. Maybe if I got some information on it I could write a tale or two for it.

First off, welcome to the site Jakabok. You are correct that the main DC2 continuity is Earth One. Earth A is a little trickier to explain: Long story short, Earth A is a brand new DC2 Universe that takes place early on in the careers of the modern age DC heroes. The main title will be The Justice League title featuring the big 8. The other title is called Earth A: Universe. An anthology format title where the rest of the Earth A characters will have the spotlight. Earth A has evolved into a unique vision of a modern/silver age take on classic DC characters with perhaps a dash of ultimate thrown in just because I like the way the word ultimate can get a rise out of some people. I have spent quiet some time combing through the history of DC Comics and created the backbone for Earth A's history and a list of featured characters numbering around 200 or so. From that I also formulated the rosters of all the active teams (as well as some inactive and or retired ones) including the Justice League, Teen Titans, Titans West, Outsiders, Shadow Sentinels, Young Justice Squadron, to name a few. It has taken quiet some time to flesh out the basics of an entire re-imagined DCU and I am working through several different plot points involving dozens of characters to see who will be focused on first. At this time I don't believe there is an entry point for new writers just yet. Heck once I lay the ground work there might not be anyone interested in writing in the Earth A Universe. I mean who wants to start over with 52 new #1's and....wait thats something else entirely.  For now might I suggest The Earth One universe. It has a vast and rich history with plenty of established titles and characters to choose from. And check back later one for Earth A and perhaps you might be able to help answer some of these questions: Which Justice Leagues founding member died forcing the team to disband? If Barbara Gordon is Batwoman, who is Batgirl...and who the heck is Oracle? Who the heck is Harlequin and who is she spying on Teen Titans West for? Why did Raven, Starfire, and Terra all quit the Teen Titans? Who are the Secret Six? What really happened to the Justice Society in the past, and how will that secret affect the Young Justice Squadron in the present? Just a few of the questions I am pondering, but right this moment I am in the middle of writing a quiet scene for a possible Teen Titans tale between Nightwing, Beast Boy, and Kid Flash and their girl troubles. |

Thanks for the info. Perhaps in the future I could write a story or two for Earth A: Universe, but for now I’ll stick with Earth One. Now another completely unrelated question: What is the Omega Point Event and when is it going to happen? An issue of Justice League said it was going to happen next then completely skipped over it.

Things conspired to knock the writer at that time, Charlie, off the title (and from active writing here on DC2 altogether), so that event never coalesced. I believe it was his intent to use the event to bring Darkseid back, if I remember correctly, among a few other plot points.

Thanks again for your interest. I am currently working with some very talented artists and we should be able set an opening day for Earth A very soon. After that there will be many opportunities for writers and artists to play in the Earth A sandbox if interested.

Take care Don Hey, Charlie here; Omega Point was going to be the crowning moment of my JL run, but real life and other things stopped me from being able to produce it. It stalled, it spluttered, and then I had to walk away. Ted, the current JL writer, has kindly allowed a chunk of time to pass from The Omega Point, so down the line I might be able to complete the storyline, but I'm currently focusing on stories outside the DC2 realm. I'm sorry that I never got to work with Don on bringing that tale to life. It was going to be a complete and utter bastard of a story that would have rocked the DC2 to the core. God, I miss saying stuff like that. |

I stated that I "could" say, not that I "would" say. One of the things I am excited about with Earth A is the dynamics of the extended Bat Family especially with Batwoman, Batgirl, and even....Oracle. It is something I believe is completely fresh, and exciting without seeming like a change for change sake. As an FYI, the Batman "family" identities was one of the first changes I looked at switching up, and actually locked down the identities of Batwoman, Batgirl, Oracle, and even Robin over 8 months ago. All of them seemed so perfect I haven't thought twice about changing any of them. Now the second Earth A item that I have been passionate about since the beginning has been Aquaman. I had this crazy idea about 6 months ago of doing Aquaman like the Sopranos versus True Blood...all underwater. ;D |
